Put the Controller Down, Son
I saw you throw it. Don't lie to me. You were on the Champion fight, your starter was at full health, and thenโBAM. Critical Hit. Frozen. Run over.
You scream "This game is rigged!" You uninstall the emulator. You swear off Pokemon forever.
Grow up.
RNG is Not Your Enemy, It's the Weather
In the Kanto war, we didn't complain about the rain. We put on a jacket. RNG (Random Number Generation) is the same. It is a force of nature.
If your entire strategy relies on "I hope he doesn't Crit," you have a bad strategy.
Earl's 3 Rules for Anti-Tilt:
- The 6% Rule: A Crit is a 6.25% chance (usually). If you give the enemy 20 turns to hit you, that 6% becomes a 100% certainty. The longer the battle, the more likely "bad luck" happens. Win faster.
- Play Around It: Is your Garchomp dead to a Crit Ice Beam? Then switch. If you stay in, you are gambling. Don't get mad when you lose a bet.
- The "BS" AI: In hacks like Radical Red, the AI knows your moves. It cheats? Maybe. But treating it like a puzzle instead of a fair fight will save your blood pressure. Expect the worst.
The Hard Truth
You didn't lose because of RNG. You lost because you didn't have a backup plan for when RNG went wrong. Pick up the controller. Load the save. Try again. And this time, bring a Lum Berry.
FAQ: Earl's Wisdom
"Why does the Battle Tower cheat?"
Because you're smarter than it. The AI needs a handicap to be a threat. Beat it anyway.
"I missed 3 Focus Blasts in a row!"
That's not bad luck, that's statistics. Never rely on 70% accuracy moves if you can't afford to miss.
