MISSION LOG: REGION XENEON
Log Date: Cycle 14, 0800 Hours
Location: Xeneon Region (FireRed Sector)
Explorer: DexHunter Ace (LVL. 100)
My hands are shaking. The Pokedex counter is stuck. I dropped into the Xeneon region expecting a standard Kanto-derivative expedition, but the local geography has been completely terraformed. The Official Intel claims this sector is "Completed," yet my scanners read "Beta 1.3." Do you know what that does to a completionist's blood pressure? It spikes it.
THE LANDSCAPE: A FRESH COAT OF PAINT
First impressions: The visual fidelity is higher than standard issue. The architects (Dev: Jay the penguin) have imported new tilesets that make the towns feel less like cardboard cutouts and more like habitable zones. The reconstruction of the towns is noticeable—pathways are distinct, and the layout doesn't trigger my muscle memory from 2004, which is refreshing.
The region operates on a functional Day/Night cycle. This complicates the hunt. I had to camp out in Route 1 equivalent for six hours just to ensure no nocturnal species were slipping past my radar.
THE ECONOMY: GET A JOB, ACE
Here is the anomaly: The Job System. In most regions, I fund my Ultra Ball addiction by mugging Youngsters for their lunch money. In Xeneon, you can actually select jobs. This is a massive shift in resource management. I spent three hours roleplaying a productive member of society just to afford a stack of Repels.
FIELD NOTE: The sidequests here are not just fetch quests; they are woven into the fabric of the main progression. However, they are volatile. Missable event warning! Save before entering the cave. I nearly locked myself out of a reward because I walked in without prepping my team.
THE CATCH: BETA ANXIETY
This is where the sweat starts. Because the region is flagged as Beta 1.3, I cannot confirm the upper limits of the Pokedex. I am pacing around the map boundaries, staring at the void, wondering if slot #152 is out there or if it hasn't been coded yet.
I scanned the local Department Stores frantically. I was praying to find the Link Cable item is available in Department Store. Huge W.—but the inventory lists were inconclusive in this build. Without confirmation on trade evolution patches, my Living Dex anxiety is through the roof.
Furthermore, without a confirmed end-state, I cannot verify if a Living Dex is possible without cheats. The uncertainty is gnawing at my neural pathways. I need that 100% stamp.
SUMMARY
Xeneon is a region with immense potential. The job mechanics and sidequests add a layer of depth usually missing from FireRed clones. But for an explorer like me, the "Beta" tag is a quarantine sign. I can't settle down here until I know the borders are secure and the Pokedex is fillable.
Current completion took me 12 hours. I'm pulling out until the architects finish construction. I can't sleep knowing there might be a bugged slot #000 waiting to corrupt my save file.
