MISSION LOG: SECTOR WATER-RED
TIMESTAMP: 0400 HOURS
LOCATION: PALLET TOWN (ALTERNATE DIMENSION)
OPERATIVE: DEXHUNTER ACE
I don't sleep. Sleep is for people who don't have a Living Dex to organize. I heard rumors of a new Kanto variant—Pokemon WaterRed—and my completionist synapses started firing. New forms? 200 of them? That’s 200 new slots in the PC boxes. I grabbed my spreadsheet, calibrated my DexNav, and jumped in. But let me tell you, this expedition was... wet. And not in a good way.
THE ANOMALY: 200 "NEW" FORMS
My initial scans indicated approximately 200 regional variants. I was expecting Alolan-level divergences. Instead, I found what appears to be a genetic glitch. Many species here have suffered severe pigment alterations—palette swaps ranging from "interesting" to "someone spilled the paint bucket tool."
For a Hunter, this is a nightmare scenario. Are they new species? Do they have unique Pokedex entries? No. They are imposters wearing the skins of Kanto natives. I spent three hours tracking a Pidgey variant only to realize its stats were identical to the standard avian. My completion percentage didn't budge. It’s a superficial mutation.
SUPPLY CHAIN & LOGISTICS
I made a beeline for the Celadon Department Store. Usually, this is where runs die because you can't evolve a Trade-Only mon. I found some relief here: New evolutionary stones are available in the Celadon store. They’ve repurposed useless artifacts into catalyst items. This is a massive QoL win. It means I don't have to trade with a second device to get my evolutions sorted. However, don't expect the full modern suite.
FIELD NOTE: The item description text is unstable. Double-check your bag before using a Stone. You don't want to waste resources on a glitch.
THE BROKEN CHAIN: INCOMPLETE DATA
Here is where the sweat starts cold. The intel promised a new experience, but as I pushed past the fourth Gym, the "new" content started to thin out. The wild encounter tables are erratic. The Official Intelligence stated this world "does not end with all the coaches and wild encounters."
Do you know what that means to me? It means 100% completion is mathematically impossible. There are holes in the database. I walked through grass patches that should have held rare water-variants, only to find standard, vanilla Kanto trash mobs. It breaks the immersion. It breaks the grind. If I can't catch everything because the creator didn't finish the encounter tables, why am I here?
THE VERDICT
The combat movements (movesets) have been altered—some polished, some "awful" (to quote the local dialect). It feels like a beta test for a concept that was abandoned in 2018. It's fully playable as a story, sure, but for a Collector? It's torture. You're constantly wondering if the next route has new content or if you've walked off the edge of the map.
Living Dex is possible without cheats? No. Because the Dex itself is an illusion here.
