LOG ENTRY: THE SUPERIOR TRAINER
Day 1. Pallet Town. I looked in the mirror and saw... Blue. Finally, a simulation that respects my skill level. But I'm not here for the ego trip; I'm here for the data. My Pokedex counter started at 0, and my blood pressure spiked immediately. The mission parameters were clear: Kanto Sector, complete acquisition of all biological assets, no excuses. I strapped on my running shoes—which, thank the Arceus plates, actually work inside houses now—and began the sweep.
THE CATCHABILITY INDEX
Let's cut to the chase. The intelligence report claimed Living Dex is possible without cheats. I can confirm this is accurate, and it is glorious. I didn't have to hook up a secondary GBA unit to evolve my Kadabra. The local "impossible evolutions" have been patched into the wild data tables. Seeing a Golem without a trade animation? Pure dopamine. I spent three hours just combing Route 1 to verify the encounter slots hadn't been tampered with negatively. They haven't. It's a collector's paradise.
ANOMALIES & THREAT ASSESSMENT
The narrative landscape has shifted. I am not the silent protagonist; I am the Rival. The dialogue reflects this—people treat you with the mix of fear and annoyance that Blue deserves. However, vigilance is required. The standard acquisition protocol for Lapras (Subject #131) at Silph Co. has been disrupted. The NPC didn't hand over the asset as per standard FireRed protocol. Panic set in. I had to scour the region to ensure the slot wasn't permanently empty.
Missable event warning! Save before entering the cave.
Specifically, the locations for Mythicals like Jirachi have been edited. If you walk in unprepared and knock it out, that's a permanent stain on your save file. On the bright side, Mew and Deoxys now obey commands properly. In previous unstable versions of this reality, they were disobedient, which made grinding them to Level 100 a nightmare. This QoL fix is a godsend.
FINAL TALLY
The visual landscape is standard Kanto, but seeing the world through Blue's sprite adds a layer of freshness. The removal of the Level 50 Raticate trainer is a curious historical edit, likely to prevent over-leveling exploits or just a lore adjustment. 100% completion took me 85 hours. That includes resetting for a decent nature on that obedient Mew and scouring the Sevii Islands for the updated TM salesman inventory.
Is it the most advanced region? No. There is no physical/special split, and the mechanics are old-school. But for a completionist who wants to stomp Red while filling every single slot in the Dex? It satisfies the itch.
