LOG ENTRY: 0900 HOURS - REGION: KEPLARA
I’ve touched down in Keplara. My pulse is racing. 120 BPM. Why? Because my Pokedex is blinking red. Unknown Data.
This isn't just a new coat of paint on Hoenn. This is an entirely new ecosystem. The local Professors call them "Fakemon," but I call them Targets 001 through 076. I don't sleep until they are logged. The region is currently in a state of flux (Version 0.3.6), meaning the borders are locked down past a certain point. This stresses me out. I can see the empty slots, but I can't fill them all yet.
THE ANOMALY: MANUAL RESEARCH
Here is the kicker. The Pokedex here is broken—or rather, it's realistic. You don't just catch a beast and get a paragraph of lore. You have to Research them. I encountered a species the locals call a "starter." The Dex gave me nothing. I had to battle with it, evolve it, and complete specific tasks to fill the data entries. It’s a completionist’s fever dream. I spent four hours just analyzing the metabolic rates of a single grass-type.
FIELD NOTE: The Research System is mandatory for true 100% completion. Do not ignore the prompt to 'Observe' your party members.
COMBAT PROTOCOLS & QOL
The combat engine has been overhauled to Gen 8 standards. Physical/Special split is standard, obviously, but the real treat is the Rotation Battles. It's a tactical nightmare in the best way possible. Three mons on the field, rotating like a carousel of pain. I haven't seen this tech since the Unova sector.
And regarding availability? The local government (the Settings Menu) allows you to toggle Nuzlocke rules and Randomizers right from the start. Because of this flexibility, Living Dex is possible without cheats. You can tweak the encounter tables to ensure you aren't soft-locked out of a rare spawn.
THE FRONTIER SIMULATION
Even though the region isn't fully explorable yet, the simulation technology is advanced. I accessed a terminal they call the "Battle Factory Mode." It allows for rental battles independent of your main save file. It's a perfect sandbox. Post-game is massive. Battle Frontier included. Or at least, the framework is there and fully functional for rental chaos.
MISSION STATUS: INCOMPLETE
I hit the invisible wall at the end of the current beta content. My completion percentage is stuck. It hurts. Physically. 100% completion took me 15 hours for the available zones, but I am hungry for more. The "void" beyond the current map edge calls to me.
WARNING: This is an active construction zone. Missable event warning! Save before entering the cave. Glitches (anomalies) are rare but possible in this version.
VERDICT
Keplara is a goldmine for those of us who need to categorize the unknown. The Fakemon designs feel organic, not like some genetic experiments gone wrong in a ROM hacker's basement. The Research mechanic adds a layer of depth that makes filling the Dex feel like actual science.
