MISSION LOG: DAY 1 - THE BIOLOGICAL ANOMALY
I packed my bags for Kanto. I brought my standard issue PokeBalls, my laminated type-matchup chart, and my lucky RNG-manipulation timer. I was ready to speedrun the Kanto Dex. Instead, I stepped into a dimension that defies the Dewey Decimal System of Pokemon classification. The locals call them Hetamon.
My Pokedex is screaming. These aren't regional variants; they are entirely new biological entities replacing the standard fauna. I encountered two starters—one I took, the other was thrust upon me. No choice? That's efficient, I guess, but it messes with my 'One save file per starter' protocol. The sprites are custom, yes, but they don't fit the standard taxonomy. Living Dex is possible without cheats... technically? But only if you accept these Hetamon as valid entries. I'm still debating if they deserve a slot in the Home Bank.
GEOGRAPHY & CLIMATE: UNSTABLE
The region claims to be 'Open Worldly'. In practice, this manifests as a chaotic rearrangement of the standard FireRed topography. The weather patterns are erratic—dynamic systems that shift without warning. One minute it's clear, the next it's a deluge. It adds a layer of unpredictability to the hunt, which I usually appreciate, but here it feels like the simulation is glitching.
NOTE: The 'Open World' nature is less 'Breath of the Wild' and more 'The map has been shredded and taped back together'. Navigate with extreme caution.
THE COMPLETIONIST'S NIGHTMARE
Here is the hard data: This expedition is cut short. The region is stuck in a temporal loop dated March 23, 2020. Version Beta 0.2.2. For a Hunter like me, this is the ultimate tragedy. I can catch them, I can train them, but I cannot finish. There is no endgame. There is no 100%.
I spent hours grinding, expecting a post-game expansion. 100% completion took me 5 hours—not because I'm fast, but because the road simply ends. There is no Battle Frontier. There is no Sevii Islands expansion. Just a 'To Be Continued' sign gathering dust.
FINAL VERDICT
This is a curiosity, not a campaign. The music is fresh, and the sprite work shows dedication to this 'Hetamon' lore, but the lack of a finished state makes it a museum piece rather than a hunting ground. Missable event warning! Save before entering the cave... actually, save before you start, because you might not want to invest emotional energy into a timeline that stopped three years ago.
