MISSION LOG: POKEMON TREE OF TIME
Explorer: DexHunter Ace (LVL. 100)
Region: Rengoku
Base Sector: FireRed Architecture
Status: ALPHA BUILD - PROCEED WITH CAUTION
INITIAL ASSESSMENT
Okay. OKAY. Deep breaths. I need to talk about this one because my completion percentage is sitting at a painful 67.4% and I physically cannot push it further. Not because I gave up—DexHunter Ace does NOT give up—but because this region is still under construction. The Alpha 1 designation is not a suggestion. It's a warning label.
The premise hooked me immediately: interdimensional displacement, a region called Rengoku in crisis, strange behavioral anomalies affecting both trainers and wild Pokemon. The isekai setup actually works here because it justifies why everything feels slightly... unfinished. Like the world itself is still rendering.
POKEDEX VIABILITY REPORT
Gen 1-7 availability confirmed. Gen 7 starters are obtainable early, which had me vibrating with excitement. Rowlet? In a FireRed base? My spreadsheet was READY.
But here's where my eye started twitching: Living Dex is NOT possible without cheats. At least not in this build. Multiple evolutionary lines are truncated. Trade evolutions? No Link Cable item spotted in any Department Store or side vendor. I checked. I checked SEVEN times. I mapped every shop in the accessible areas. Nothing.
MISSABLE EVENT WARNING! Several sidequests appear to lock out permanently if triggered in the wrong order. Save before EVERY major story beat. I lost access to what appeared to be a legendary sidequest chain because I entered the eastern forest before speaking to an NPC in town. My soul left my body.
QUALITY OF LIFE PHENOMENA
The good news? BW2 Repel system is operational. "Would you like to use another Repel?" Yes. YES I WOULD. Best QoL: Infinite Repel system. This alone kept me sane during the grinding segments.
Additional regional technology observed:
- Colored EV stats with letter grades visible in summary screens. Finally, I can see my investment without external tools.
- Experience awarded on capture. This is ESSENTIAL for Pokedex completion runs. Catching everything doesn't feel like a punishment anymore.
- Fairy typing integrated properly. Tested extensively against Dragon-types. Functions as expected.
The updated overworld sprites are clean. Recognizable. The visual landscape of Rengoku has a distinct identity—darker palette, more urban decay mixed with overgrown wilderness. It's giving "region that's been through something."
THREAT LEVEL ASSESSMENT
Hostile entities proved moderately dangerous. Gym Leaders don't pull punches, but they're not Radical Red levels of brutal. The anime rival cameos (spotted Alain, Paul, and several others) bring competitive teams that actually require strategy. I wiped twice to the second rival encounter because I was cocky. Lesson learned.
The sidequest density is HIGH. Almost overwhelming. Every NPC seems to have a task, a fetch quest, a mystery to solve. For completionists, this is paradise AND hell simultaneously. I logged 23 hours before hitting the content wall, and I estimate maybe 40% of available sidequests were cleared.
ANOMALY REPORT
Alpha build means anomalies. Documented issues:
- Text overflow in several dialogue boxes—characters speaking beyond their containers
- One softlock potential in the third town's Pokemon Center (save before entering if you've completed the market quest)
- Several Pokemon cries don't match their sprites
- Post-game content appears nonexistent or inaccessible in current build
Post-game is... not massive. Post-game is not present. Battle Frontier? Not included. Not even hinted at. This is the Alpha's biggest limitation for my purposes. I need endgame content. I need something to DO after the credits. Currently, there's nothing.
SHINY HUNTING VIABILITY
No enhanced shiny methods detected. Standard 1/8192 odds appear to be in effect. No DexNav. No chain fishing mechanics. No Masuda Method infrastructure. For dedicated hunters, this region offers no special tools. You're going old school if you want that sparkle.
FINAL EXPEDITION NOTES
Look. The bones are here. The concept is fascinating. The QoL features that ARE implemented show the creator understands what modern Pokemon exploration requires. Gen 7 Pokemon in a FireRed shell with proper EV visibility and capture EXP? That's the foundation of something excellent.
But I cannot in good conscience recommend this for completionists in its current state. My Pokedex sits incomplete. My sidequest log has question marks. The post-game void haunts me. 100% completion is currently impossible, and that's not a challenge—it's a roadblock.
RECOMMENDATION: Bookmark this region. Check back when it exits Alpha. The creator clearly has vision. But vision needs execution, and execution needs time. Wait for the full release.
Current expedition time: 23 hours
Completion percentage achieved: 67.4%
Remaining content: INACCESSIBLE - BUILD LIMITATION
DexHunter Ace, signing off. My spreadsheet weeps.
