MISSION REPORT: POKEMON THUNDER EMBLEM
Explorer: DexHunter Ace (LVL. 100)
Region Designation: Thunder Emblem Sector
Base Coordinates: FireRed Framework
Build Version: Beta 1
Expedition Duration: 12 hours (INCOMPLETE - SEE BELOW)
INITIAL ASSESSMENT
Okay. OKAY. Deep breaths. Let me explain why my completion percentage reads 37% and why I'm filing this report early.
I went in hot. The creator made Dark Cry and Gengar's Revenge—both solid expeditions in my archives. I expected polish. I expected a full Pokedex pathway. What I got was... a construction site with caution tape everywhere.
THE LANDSCAPE
The region presents remapped territories—caves, settlements, routes—all redesigned from standard Kanto layouts. Visually? It's functional. The creator clearly put effort into making this feel like a different world. You're playing as Ash or Dawn, which threw me off initially, but whatever. Gen IV species roaming around FireRed architecture? That's the kind of temporal anomaly I can appreciate.
There's a riding mechanic here. You can mount certain Pokemon to traverse the overworld. Novel local technology, though implementation feels rough around the edges.
FIELD NOTE: The "time travel" narrative element sends you to past-era locations. Interesting concept, but navigation became confusing without proper documentation.
POKEDEX VIABILITY ASSESSMENT
Here's where I started hyperventilating.
Living Dex Status: UNKNOWN. And that's the problem.
Beta 1. BETA. ONE. I cannot confirm if a Living Dex is possible without cheats because this expedition isn't finished. The regional Pokedex includes Gen IV entries, but encounter tables feel incomplete. I found areas where tall grass yielded nothing. Empty. Like the data just... wasn't there.
Missable event warning! Save before entering the cave. Actually, save before entering ANYTHING. I lost a potential legendary encounter to what I can only describe as a scripting anomaly—walked through a door, event triggered prematurely, soft-locked. Had to reload a save from 40 minutes prior.
My spreadsheet is CRYING.
QUALITY OF LIFE PHENOMENA
Let me check my notes...
- Link Cable Item: Could not locate. No Department Store stocking evolutionary items that I found. Trade evolutions remain a question mark.
- Repel System: Standard. No infinite toggle. Manual reapplication required.
- Running Shoes: Present from the start. Small mercy.
- PC Box System: Functional, though I experienced one freeze during mass deposits.
The QoL features that separate a polished expedition from a rough draft? Mostly absent. This feels like raw exploration territory—uncharted, undocumented, and occasionally hostile to completionists.
THREAT LEVEL ANALYSIS
Intel suggested "Harder Level than Pokemon Fire Red." Confirmed. Gym Leaders deploy competent teams with actual coverage moves. I appreciated this! Enemy trainers don't just spam their STAB moves and pray. There's strategy here.
But difficulty spikes are inconsistent. One route had wild encounters 15 levels above my party average. No warning. Just sudden violence.
POST-GAME TERRITORY
I... I can't report on this. Beta 1 means the post-game either doesn't exist or remains inaccessible. My expedition halted at approximately the 6th Gym equivalent due to a progression-blocking anomaly.
Post-game is massive. Battle Frontier included. — I WISH I could say this. I genuinely wish. But I cannot verify any post-game content exists in this build.
ANOMALY LOG
- Soft-lock in "past era" cave system (reproducible)
- NPC dialogue triggering out of sequence
- One tile in Route 3-equivalent that crashes the expedition entirely
- Empty encounter tables in two late-game areas
- Save corruption risk—experienced one instance, recovered via backup
CRITICAL WARNING: Maintain multiple save files. Rotate them. Do NOT overwrite your only save in this region. I learned this the hard way at hour 8.
COMPLETION METRICS
Current Progress: 37% (estimated)
Time Invested: 12 hours
Pokedex Entries: 89 (of unknown total)
Shiny Encounters: 0 (did not attempt hunting in unstable territory)
100% Completion Estimate: IMPOSSIBLE IN CURRENT BUILD
Shiny hunting method: DexNav chaining works perfectly? THERE IS NO DEXNAV. This is FireRed base. Standard random encounters only. My shiny odds are 1/8192 with no mitigation. I'm not spending 200 hours hunting in a beta that might corrupt my save.
FINAL EXPEDITION NOTES
Look. The creator has proven themselves with previous expeditions. Dark Cry was solid. This project shows ambition—new story, new characters, temporal mechanics, Gen IV integration. The bones are here.
But Beta 1 is Beta 1. This is not a completed expedition. This is a preview. A proof of concept. My completionist brain is SCREAMING because I cannot fill this Pokedex. I cannot confirm legendary availability. I cannot tell you if trade evolutions are patched because I never found the items.
If you're a fellow completionist? Wait. Check back when this hits Version 1.0 or higher. Let someone else map the anomalies first.
If you're just here for a casual stroll through a new region? You might get 10-15 hours of content before hitting a wall. Just... save often. Trust no one. Trust no door.
My Pokedex sits at 89 entries with question marks everywhere else. This is my personal nightmare.
