MISSION REPORT: POKEMON TERRA
Explorer: DexHunter Ace (LVL. 100)
Expedition Duration: 23 hours, 47 minutes
Pokedex Completion: 67.3%
Status: INCOMPLETE - CRITICAL ISSUES DETECTED
INITIAL DEPLOYMENT
Okay. OKAY. Deep breaths. Let me tell you about Terra.
Touched down in this revamped Hoenn sector with my heart RACING because the starter selection screen showed Eevee, Spheal, and Larvitar. THREE pseudo-rare species just HANDED to you at the beginning? My completion instincts were screaming. Grabbed Larvitar obviously—Tyranitar availability from hour one is the kind of decision that makes me trust a region.
Also snagged that Pikachu they let you catch during starter selection. Four captures before the first route. My spreadsheet was already filling up beautifully.
THE LANDSCAPE
The Hoenn reconstruction is... present. Familiar routes with some geographical shuffling. Xenta City serves as a new hub, and the dual evil team structure (Team Ander in purple, Team Cypher in green) creates a constant territorial tension throughout the region. Encountered both factions within the first two hours.
Gen 4-5 species are scattered throughout the wild encounter tables. Spotted Gible in early caves. GIBLE. Do you understand what that means for early-game team diversity? My encounter checklist was getting absolutely demolished in the best way.
FIELD NOTE: The mysterious entity known as "Yiki" appears in several locations. Purpose unknown. Potentially event-related. Requires further investigation for 100% completion.
THREAT ASSESSMENT
Difficulty claims check out partially. Gym Leaders hit harder than standard Hoenn protocol. Their teams show actual strategic composition—coverage moves, held items, the works. Lost to the second Gym Leader three times because I was too busy catching everything on Route 3 to grind properly.
That's on me. That's ALWAYS on me. The Pokedex waits for no one but I make it wait anyway.
CRITICAL ANOMALIES DETECTED
Here's where my eye starts twitching.
Missable event warning! Save before entering ANY story-critical building. I encountered at least two instances where NPCs that should have given items simply... didn't trigger. Dialogue boxes appeared empty. Had to reset twice.
The Elite Four "any order" system is functional but the level scaling feels inconsistent. Fought the second member first and their team was 15 levels above what I'd prepared for. No warning. No indication. Just pain.
Post-game Battle Resort exists but feels skeletal. No Battle Frontier included—just a series of trainer gauntlets without the strategic depth I crave. My completion percentage stalled at 67.3% because several areas appear inaccessible or trigger soft-locks.
QUALITY OF LIFE ASSESSMENT
This is where Terra falls apart for completionists like me.
- No Link Cable item located in any Department Store or mart. Trade evolutions remain locked behind actual trading. In a ROM hack. In 2024. Unacceptable.
- No infinite repel system. Manual reapplication every 250 steps while hunting.
- Shiny hunting method: Standard random encounters only. No DexNav. No chain mechanics. No increased odds anywhere I could find.
- Living Dex is NOT possible without cheats due to trade evolution locks and potentially missing species.
CRITICAL: Several Pokedex entries appear unfillable through normal gameplay. Slots #196, #197, #134, #135, #136 (Eeveelutions requiring specific evolution methods) may be obtainable but trade evolutions like Machamp, Alakazam, and Gengar are LOCKED.
COMPLETION VIABILITY
100% completion took me— actually, no. 100% completion did NOT take me anywhere because 100% completion appears IMPOSSIBLE in current build.
67.3% is where I hit the wall. The WALL. That horrible moment when you realize the empty Pokedex slots aren't a challenge, they're a prison sentence.
The two rivals add encounter variety. The dual evil team narrative creates more trainer battles (more EXP, more opportunities). The Gen 4-5 additions expand the regional dex significantly. These are positives. I'm trying to be fair. I'm TRYING.
But when I can't fill my Pokedex, nothing else matters. You understand? NOTHING.
FINAL FIELD ASSESSMENT
Terra has ambition. The starter selection is inspired. The expanded species pool made my first 15 hours genuinely exciting. But this region is unfinished or poorly documented—I cannot determine which.
For casual travelers? Serviceable adventure. Novel team building options.
For completionists? This expedition broke something in me. That 67.3% haunts my spreadsheet. It will haunt it forever.
Recommending this region only to those who don't share my neurological need for filled Pokedex slots. If you're like me—if that empty slot makes you SWEAT—stay away until someone confirms a completion path exists.
I need to go update my tracker. And maybe lie down.
