MISSION LOG: REGION KANTO (VARIANT SUPREME)
Explorer Identity: DexHunter Ace
Current Pokedex Status: 98% (Sweating profusely)
Location: Indigo Plateau, Champion's Chamber
I don't know who messed with the timeline, but this isn't the Kanto I grew up in. I landed in Pallet Town ready to pick a Charmander and blaze through, but Professor Oak—looking strangely smug—offered me an Ekans, Machop, or Abra. My completionist brain short-circuited for a solid five minutes. But here's the kicker: these aren't your standard-issue mons. My Pokedex scanner indicates their Base Stat Totals (BST) have been genetically altered. They are monsters. Literally.
THE ECOSYSTEM & CATCHABILITY
Let’s talk numbers because numbers don't lie. The biodiversity here is chaotic. Types have shifted. Abilities are swapped. I spent three hours in Viridian Forest just analyzing the new data. But the biggest dopamine hit? The Safari Zone.
FIELD NOTE: The indigenous species in the Safari Zone have lost their flight response. Safari Pokemon Won't Run Away. I repeat: They. Do. Not. Flee. I caught a Chansey without throwing my console. This is the peak of human civilization.
For a hunter like me, the catch mechanics are a dream. You get EXP for catching Pokemon now, which keeps the momentum rolling. Plus, the Best QoL: Infinite Repel system (BW style) is fully functional here. I didn't encounter a single unwanted Zubat while navigating Mt. Moon. My sanity remains intact.
THREAT LEVEL: CRITICAL
Do not underestimate the locals. The Gym Leaders here aren't playing for badges; they're playing for keeps. The region has implemented a strict "No Item" policy during official matches. You can't heal. You can't revive. And the battle style is forced into SET mode. You have to predict switches or you get wiped.
I tracked the difficulty curve, and it spikes hard. The intel mentioned a "Much Harder Post-Game," and they weren't kidding. Once my Pokedex hit 60 entries, the hostility level of opposing trainers skyrocketed. It’s a gauntlet.
LOGISTICS & ANOMALIES
The local technology has seen massive upgrades. HMs are deletable. I didn't need a dedicated "HM Mule" clogging up a slot in my party, which means I could run a full team of six optimized killers. Also, the government has banned EV training entirely—you can only use Vitamins. It simplifies the math, but it means you can't min-max in the traditional way. You have to rely on the boosted BSTs and raw strategy.
- Visuals: B2W2 music signals have been intercepted on local radio frequencies. It sets a frantic tone.
- Economy: Vitamins are cheap. Stock up.
- Anomalies: Mew Y and Deoxys obey commands regardless of badges. A rare compliance glitch? Or a feature?
FINAL VERDICT
This expedition was a fever dream of stat-crunching and tactical battles. 100% completion took me 85 hours, mostly because I spent way too long analyzing the rebalanced stats of common trash mobs. If you want a Kanto run where you actually have to use your brain and where the Safari Zone doesn't make you want to quit the hobby, this is it.
WARNING: Missable event warning! Save before entering the cave north of Cerulean. The threat level there is not consistent with the surrounding routes.
