I touched down in this iteration of Hoenn expecting a modern overhaul. The intel promised "Super Mega" advancements. What I found was... an archaeological dig site of ROM hacking technology. THE "MEGA" ANOMALY
Let's address the elephant—or the Primal Groudon—in the room. The local scientists claim to have achieved Mega Evolution. False. They have achieved permanent genetic mutation via retail therapy.
Here is the situation: You don't press a button in battle to Mega Evolve. No, no, no. You go to the Lilycove Department Store, you buy a rock, and you force-feed it to your Pokemon to change its form permanently outside of combat. To revert? You have to buy another rock.
