MISSION REPORT: POKEMON SUPER HEART RED
Explorer: DexHunter Ace (LVL. 100)
Expedition Duration: 23 hours, 47 minutes
Pokedex Completion: 67.3% (AND IT'S KILLING ME)
INITIAL ASSESSMENT
Okay. OKAY. Deep breaths. Let me explain why I've been awake for 31 hours straight staring at my screen.
Super Heart Red promised me Gen 1-7 availability. Seven generations. Do you understand what that does to my brain? That's approximately 802 potential entries. My hands were shaking when I booted this up. The Kanto region, rebuilt with expanded biodiversity? Sign me up. Inject it directly into my veins.
But here's the thing—this expedition was... complicated. Like finding a shiny Feebas in vanilla Ruby complicated.
THE LANDSCAPE
Visually, this region has undergone significant reconstruction. The tileset overhaul gives familiar Kanto routes a fresher atmosphere—animated map elements create a living, breathing world. DS-style sprites for the wildlife? Chef's kiss. Every encounter felt like meeting an old friend wearing a fancy new outfit.
The backpack interface redesign actually doesn't make me want to claw my eyes out, which is more than I can say for some expeditions. Navigating inventory during extended hunting sessions was surprisingly tolerable.
WILDLIFE AVAILABILITY ASSESSMENT
Here's where my obsessive documentation kicks in.
Gen 1-7 species are scattered throughout the region, and I spent HOURS cataloging encounter tables. Route 1 alone had me catching Alolan variants alongside classic Kanto natives. The biodiversity is genuinely impressive for a Beta build.
CRITICAL FIELD NOTE: Mega Stones are purchasable at the Celadon Department Store. Link Cable item is available in Department Store. Huge W. No ridiculous fetch quests, no post-game lockouts. Just walk in, pay your Pokedollars, evolve your Gengar. This is how regional technology SHOULD work.
The increased shiny encounter rates had me hyperventilating. I encountered THREE shinies during my expedition without even trying. For dedicated hunters, this region is a paradise. Though I couldn't confirm if any advanced shiny hunting method like DexNav chaining works—the systems here are more traditional.
THREAT LEVEL ANALYSIS
The hostile entities are described as "slightly increased difficulty," and yeah, that tracks. Gym Leaders aren't pushovers—they've clearly been briefed on actual battle tactics. Brock's team nearly wiped me because I got cocky. BROCK. The rock guy. Humbling.
That said, this isn't Radical Red levels of punishment. More like... Kanto with its coffee kicked up a notch. Manageable for veterans, potentially challenging for rookies.
CRITICAL ANOMALIES DETECTED
Now. The bad news. And there IS bad news.
This is labeled "Beta 0.9" and it SHOWS. I encountered several concerning anomalies:
- Some text strings reference incorrect data—NPCs occasionally speaking gibberish or displaying placeholder dialogue
- Certain areas triggered minor graphical glitches—nothing game-breaking, but noticeable
- Post-game content appears... truncated? After the Elite Four, the region felt hollow. No Battle Frontier. Limited endgame activities.
MISSABLE EVENT WARNING: I cannot confirm all legendaries are obtainable. Some mythical encounters may be incomplete or missing entirely in this build. Save before entering ANY suspicious caves or buildings. Trust no one. Trust NOTHING.
My Pokedex sitting at 67.3% isn't entirely my fault—several species appear unobtainable in the current build. And that? That keeps me up at night. Literally. It's 4 AM.
QUALITY OF LIFE EVALUATION
The good:
- Gender selection available from start
- Mega Evolution accessible mid-game (not post-game locked!)
- Updated TM compatibility
- Boosted shiny rates for hunters
The frustrating:
- No confirmation on infinite repel system or similar QoL features
- Living Dex completion status: UNCONFIRMED. I cannot verify if a Living Dex is possible without cheats in this build. Some evolutionary lines appear incomplete.
- Limited documentation means I had to discover encounter tables manually (my spreadsheet is a MESS)
FINAL EXPEDITION NOTES
Super Heart Red is a region with tremendous potential trapped in an incomplete state. The foundation is solid—expanded Pokedex, accessible Mega Evolution, visual upgrades, and that beautiful shiny rate boost. For a casual expedition through enhanced Kanto? Absolutely serviceable.
But for completionists? For those of us who NEED that 100%? This region isn't ready for us yet. The Beta status isn't just a label—it's a warning. I hit walls. Dead ends. Empty Pokedex slots that mock me every time I open the interface.
23 hours, 47 minutes. 67.3% completion. And I physically cannot progress further until this region receives additional development.
My recommendation: Monitor this region for future updates. The bones are good. The wildlife variety is exciting. But right now? It's an incomplete expedition that will leave completionists like me twitching.
PERSONAL NOTE: If VersekrDark ever releases a 1.0 build with full Pokedex availability, contact me IMMEDIATELY. I will drop everything. I will not sleep. I will achieve 100% or die trying. That's not a threat. It's a promise.
