MISSION LOG: SUNRISE ORANGE // SECTOR 7
Timestamp: 03:42 AM
Location: Orange Archipelago, Pinkan Island
Status: Caffeine levels critical. Pokedex at 98%. Hands shaking.
I have just concluded operations in the Sunrise Orange sector. Listen to me carefully: this is not Kanto. The atmospheric data is familiar—it runs on the FireRed engine—but the biodiversity is completely anomalous. We are dealing with a Regional Dex of 240 species. To a casual observer, that sounds small. To me? That implies density. That implies specificity.
THE FAUNA: ORANGE & ALOLAN VARIANTS
The primary reason for deployment here is the regional variance. I observed native species adapting to the tropical climate in ways previously only theorized in the Alola region. We have standard Alolan forms, yes, but also unique Orange Island forms. I spent three hours tracking a specific variant of Onix that appears to be composed of crystal rather than rock.
Living Dex is possible without cheats. I repeated this mantra while surfing between islands. The distribution is tight. You don't need an Action Replay to finish this fight, which is the only way I can sleep at night.
MECHANICAL UPDATES & THREAT ASSESSMENT
Local trainers have upgraded their combat protocols. The region operates on the Physical/Special split, thank Arceus. Trying to use a Sneasel without that update is like trying to catch a Mewtwo with a Poke Ball—technically possible, but painful and stupid. The inclusion of the Fairy-type has also shifted the type-chart balance significantly.
However, be advised regarding the hostile entity known as 'Team Umbra'. They are aggressive.
Missable event warning! Save before entering the cave. There are reports of distinct encounters with Shadow-like entities that do not respawn if you fail the capture sequence. I missed one on my first run and had to reload a save from 4 hours prior. Do not make my mistake.
THE COMPLETIONIST'S VERDICT
The QoL (Quality of Life) here is... adequate for the era (2018 technology). You won't find the advanced DexNav chaining of modern sectors like Unbound, but the pacing is brisk. It’s a focused hunt.
100% completion took me 32 hours. That includes scrubbing every route for the 240th entry. It is a bite-sized expedition compared to the 100-hour marathons, but the flavor—specifically the Orange Island aesthetic—is worth the cataloging effort.
