MISSION LOG: JOHTO SECTOR (VARIANT SS)
Location: New Bark Town // Time: 00:05 // Pokedex: 1/493
I stepped off the magnet train into this iteration of Johto, dubbed "SoothingSilver" by the locals. Don't let the name fool you. While the atmosphere is calm, my pulse is racing. The local fauna has mutated. I spotted an Alolan Vulpix in the tall grass near Violet City—a regional variant usually restricted to the Alola archipelago. This changes the entire taxonomy of the region. My completionist anxiety is spiking; I need to catalog these anomalies immediately.
THE CATCH: BIODIVERSITY SHIFT
The ecological survey indicates a massive shift in availability. The local Professor, who strangely resembles the Kanto researcher, confirmed that Gen 1 and 2 species are fully catchable prior to the Indigo Plateau clearance. This is huge for the spreadsheet.
However, the most critical intel concerns evolution methods. In standard timelines, I'd be scrambling for a second device to evolve my Scyther. Here, local technology has bypassed that limitation. Evolution items are scattered throughout the region, and trade-locks have been dismantled.
FIELD NOTE: Living Dex is possible without cheats. I have confirmed that items like the Electirizer and Magmarizer are obtainable through standard exploration, ensuring no slot remains empty.
THREAT LEVEL & ANOMALIES
Do not underestimate the Gym Leaders here. This isn't the vanilla simulation where you can sweep with a starter. The threat level spikes significantly after the 4th Gym. I walked into the Ecruteak Gym expecting a cakewalk and was met with advanced movesets and optimized IVs. It forces you to actually utilize the expanded roster.
Also, check your Type Chart. The laws of physics have been tweaked—Ice-types now possess resistances to Water and Ground, and are immune to their own element. This makes my Mamoswine significantly more viable for the endgame grind.
QUALITY OF LIFE & FIELD GEAR
The standard issue PokeGear has received necessary firmware updates. The most notable improvement is to the Hidden Machine (HM) protocols. Flash is no longer a wasted slot—it's an Electric-type move with 20 Power and priority. Rock Smash actually lowers Defense consistently. It makes traversing Mt. Mortar less of a headache and more of a tactical decision.
Shiny Hunting Update: The background radiation in this region has increased the Shiny probability to approximately 1/2048. I found a blue-shelled Shuckle without even trying. For hunters, this is a gold mine.
POST-GAME & CONCLUSION
The expedition doesn't end at the League. The Kanto sector is fully open and scaled for veteran explorers. Post-game is massive. Battle Frontier included. I spent days optimizing a team for the Battle Tower just to secure the final ribbons.
My final save file stands as a testament to this region's depth. 100% completion took me 85 hours. Every slot filled, every Alolan form cataloged, and the Red entity on Mt. Silver neutralized. It’s a clean, efficient, and highly collectible experience.
