MISSION LOG: JOHTO SECTOR (VARIANT 88-B "SOOTHING")
Timestamp: 0400 Hours. Location: New Bark Town. Dex Count: 0/493.
I haven't blinked in forty-five minutes. The briefing for Pokemon Soothing Silver promised a relaxed environment, but my completionist sensors are screaming red alert. This isn't just a vacation in Goldenrod; it's a taxonomical overhaul. The local fauna has mutated. We have Alolan phenotypes appearing in the wild. I repeat: Regional variants are present in Johto.
THE COLLECTION PROTOCOL
My initial scan of the tall grass revealed immediate anomalies. The biodiversity here is staggering compared to the standard SoulSilver simulation. We aren't just seeing the usual Pidgeys; Elekid are appearing in early routes. This prevents the dreaded "Route 29 Fatigue" syndrome.
Crucial data for fellow collectors:
- Gen 1 & 2 Availability: 98% saturation prior to the Indigo Plateau conference.
- Gen 3 & 4 Availability: Locked behind the post-League firewall. A minor annoyance, but acceptable for pacing.
- Evolutionary Stones: Living Dex is possible without cheats. I confirmed that trade-evolution organisms like Gengar and Alakazam can be obtained via alternative local methods. No Link Cable required.
FIELD NOTE: Keep an eye on your Geodudes and Sandshrews. The regional variants (Alolan/Hisuian traits) are mixed into the population. Do not transfer them to the professor until you have secured both forms for the Living Dex.
THE SHINY ANOMALY
I need to report a glitch in the matrix, but Headquarters says it's a feature. The Shiny probability in this sector has been cranked to 1/2048. This is not a drill. I encountered a Shiny Spinarak within my first three hours of patrol.
Furthermore, there are reports of 65 custom shiny palettes. I spent six hours in Dark Cave just to verify the pigment changes on the local Zubat population. They are beautiful. If you are a hunter, this region is a gold mine. I’m currently at 212/493 Shinies caught. Sleep is for the weak.
LOGISTICS AND QOL
The local technology is surprisingly advanced. The government here has finally implemented a Reusable TM standard. I no longer have to hoard my Earthquake disc like it's a sacred relic. I taught it to three different Garchomps just because I could.
Even better, I located a specialized training facility in the Goldenrod GTS building. There is a "Grinding Trainer" stationed there. This entity allows for rapid leveling, cutting down the grind time by approximately 60%. This efficiency is the only reason 100% completion took me 85 hours instead of the usual 120.
THREAT LEVEL ASSESSMENT
Do not let the name "Soothing" lull you into a false sense of security. The Gym Leaders are utilizing competitive movesets. I walked into Morty's gym expecting a casual exorcism and was met with a full Ghost-type squad including an Alolan Marowak that swept my team twice.
Also, physics in this region are unstable. Ice-type entities have developed an immunity to Ice attacks and resistances to Water and Ground. It makes Mamoswine an absolute tank, but it also means Pryce is no longer a pushover.
WARNING: Missable event warning! Save before entering the cave near the endgame zones. There are Super Bosses and Legendary encounters that do not respawn if you fumble the capture. I wasted 40 Ultra Balls on a boosted Lugia. Bring a Sleeper.
FINAL MISSION STATUS
The post-game is meaty. Kanto is fully accessible, and the level curve has been adjusted so you aren't fighting level 50s when you should be fighting level 70s. The integration of Gen 3 and 4 mons into the late-game ecosystem keeps the dopamine hitting right until the very end.
Box 18 is full. Pokedex is at 99%. I just need to find that specific regional Growlithe. I'm going back in.
