LOG ENTRY: 0345 HOURS // REGION: SHROUDED CHAOS
I haven't slept in three days. The Pokedex counter in my UI is stuck, and the silence is deafening. I dropped into the Shrouded Chaos sector expecting a standard Kanto remix, but the localized reality is... unstable. My mission parameters were simple: Catalog every entity. But this region fights back.
THE ANOMALY: STARTER SEQUENCE
Standard procedure dictates a choice between Grass, Fire, or Water. This region violates protocol immediately. Your starter is Teddiursa.
For a Collector, this is a fascinating deviation. Starting with Dex entry #216 throws off the early-game curve entirely. No elemental advantage against the first hostile fauna. You are literally fighting for your life with a teddy bear. It changes the capture dynamic. You're not the apex predator here; you're a scavenger. It forces you to rely on capture mechanics earlier than usual just to build a viable defense team.
VISUALS & TERRAIN
The topography has been overhauled. The intel mentioned "New Tiles," but that's an understatement. The landscape feels alien compared to the standard FireRed base. The palette is darker, more saturated. It fits the "Shrouded" moniker.
NOTE: Pay attention to the sprite work. It's not just a repaint; it's a terraforming event.
THE CATCHABILITY INDEX
Here is where the sweat starts. I have been tracking encounter tables across Route 1 and beyond. The variety is... erratic. The "Chaos" in the region's name seems to apply to the biodiversity. I encountered species that have no business being in this climate.
However, I hit a massive roadblock. The region is flagged as Version: Alpha. For a completionist, this is the ultimate horror. Is the National Dex functional? Does the data stream end abruptly after the 4th Gym? I played until my eyes bled, but I can't confirm if a Living Dex is possible without cheats. The boundaries of this world feel temporary, like the simulation hasn't finished rendering.
OPERATIONAL HAZARDS (BUGS & SCRIPTS)
The "New Scripts" promised in the briefing are present, but they are volatile. I experienced event triggers that felt disjointed. At one point, I walked into a cutscene that felt like it belonged in a different timeline.
Missable event warning! Save before entering the cave. I'm serious. The scripting in the subterranean sectors is unstable. I almost lost a save file because an event flag didn't trigger correctly.
THE VERDICT
I cannot mark this mission as 100% Complete. My spreadsheet has too many blank cells. The Teddiursa start is a brilliant hook, and the visual overhaul shows promise, but the "Alpha" designation hangs over the experience like a dark cloud. I need a Link Stone. I need a Post-Game. I need certainty.
If you are a casual tourist, the novelty of the Teddiursa starter is worth the trip. But if you are a DexHunter? Keep your expectations managed. 100% completion took me 85 hours in other regions; here, I fear the map simply ends before the hunger is sated.
