MISSION LOG: ENTRY #001 - THE HOENN-JOHTO INITIATIVE
Location: Littleroot Town / New Bark Town Border Zone
Time: 04:30 (Day/Night Cycle Active)
Current Pokedex Count: 0/???
My hands are shaking. Not from fear, but from the raw data potential. I just touched down in Pokemon Ruby Renev, and the sensors are picking up readings from Generation 1 through 8. Do you understand the magnitude of this? We are talking about over 800 potential slots. If there isn't a specialized PC box sorting system, I might actually lose my mind. 100% completion took me 85 hours of non-stop grinding, and I’m still cataloging variants.
REGIONAL ANOMALIES: THE "CRYSTAL" MUTATION
I’ve encountered a biological divergence. The locals call it the "Crystal Type." It’s distinct from the Terastal phenomenon observed in Paldea. It sits alongside the Fairy type in the type chart. I spent three hours testing defensive matchups against a wild Zigzagoon just to update my spreadsheet. For a completionist, a new type is both a blessing and a curse—it complicates the Living Dex organization, but the thrill of catching a species with a unique typing is unparalleled.
FIELD NOTE: The biodiversity here is chaotic. You will see Alolan forms coexisting with Kanto natives. Keep your PokeBalls stocked. There is nothing worse than running into a Gen 8 starter in a Route 101 patch and realizing you’re out of supplies.
EXPEDITION SCOPE: TWO FRONTS
This isn't just a Hoenn vacation. The intel confirmed a secondary theater of operations: Johto. Post-game is massive. Battle Frontier included. (Well, technically a whole second region serves as the frontier). The transition between Hoenn and Johto feels like a warp in space-time, accompanied by a shift in auditory signals—HGSS music protocols engage seamlessly. It’s a massive W for longevity. I didn't verify the "Island" intel yet, but if it houses Mythicals, I will find it. I will swim there if I have to.
LOGISTICS AND QOL
Let's talk about the gear. They’ve integrated a Gogoat Riding System. It’s a fantastic piece of local technology that speeds up traversal before you acquire the Fly HM. However, the real question is availability. I’ve scanned the Department Stores and can confirm: Link Cable item is available in Department Store. Huge W. This means Gengar and Alakazam are back on the menu for solo operatives. No more begging for trade partners on discord channels.
However, the threat level is elevated. The EXP curve has been steepened. Wild entities push back harder. You cannot simply mash 'A' to win; you need to engage with the Physical/Special split mechanics properly or you will be wiped out before the third gym.
THE HUNT FOR LEGENDS
The briefing mentioned "Hidden Legendaries." I found a Mewtwo tucked away in a cave that shouldn't exist in vanilla Ruby. This implies that Living Dex is possible without cheats. I haven't confirmed the location of #493 yet, but the hunt is the best part. If I miss a legendary because of a glitch, I’m burning this log. So far, the triggers seem stable.
SUMMARY
Ruby Renev is a chaotic, overstuffed buffet for the obsessive collector. It mixes mechanics from eight generations into a Gen 3 chassis. It’s messy, it’s manic, and I absolutely love it.
