LOG ENTRY: DAY 1 - THE UNIFORM FITS
I didn't join this criminal syndicate for the dental plan or the world domination rhetoric. I joined because Intel suggested Team Rocket has exclusive access to Gen 4 and 5 imports that the Kanto League has been suppressing. Gotta. Catch. Them. ALL. Even if I have to steal them.
My Pokedex currently sits at 0%. My pulse is steady, but the sweat is starting. The mission parameters stated "Catch over 380 Pokemon". I need you to understand the horror of that number. It's not 386. It's not 493. It's an arbitrary number. Does this mean gaps? Does this mean empty slots? I have a spreadsheet for Hidden Grotto locations and I'm not afraid to use it, but if slot #152 is missing because the dev prioritized a Unova mon, I am going to have a breakdown in the breakroom.
VISUALS AND TECH: UNEXPECTEDLY CRISP
The visual landscape of this region is vibrant, unlike anything in the standard Kanto sector. The organization has clearly invested in Black/White era graphical technology. The sprites are animated, the environments feel less static. It helps with the grind. And believe me, there is a grind.
FIELD NOTE: The "Increased Difficulty" is not a drill. Hostile entities (Gym Leaders, Police, Rivals) use advanced tactics. I spent 4 hours EV training a stolen Snivy just to survive the second major operation.
THE HUNT: ANOMALIES DETECTED
I've been tracking the availability of species. Here is the situation on the ground:
- Regional Variants: Gen 4 and 5 Pokemon are roaming the wild. Seeing a Krookodile in Kanto soil is jarring but delightful.
- The Catch: We are stealing, yes, but the mechanics still allow for capture. However, the distribution feels... chaotic.
- The Gap: I have confirmed that not every species is present. Living Dex is possible without cheats... but only for the specific regional subset provided. My National Dex remains painfully incomplete. It itches.
POST-GAME AND QOL
I reached the endgame credits at the 62-hour mark, but true completion took longer. The post-game is meaty enough to satisfy the hunger, though it lacks the infinite looping satisfaction of a Battle Frontier. However, I did find a critical item for us solo operatives.
Link Cable item is available in Department Store. Huge W. I evolved my trade-evolution mons without needing to interact with another human being, which is the ideal scenario for a rogue agent. The feeling of seeing Gengar evolve in a solo session is better than dopamine.
WARNING: Missable event warning! Save before entering the cave near the third hideout. There is a scripted encounter that does not respawn. If you faint it, that slot stays empty forever. I nearly deleted my save file over this.
FINAL LOG
100% completion took me 85 hours. The QoL features like the BW sprites save this from being just another edgy narrative hack. It scratches the itch, but the incomplete National Dex keeps me up at night.
