LOG ENTRY: HOENN SECTOR (TIMELINE +5 YEARS)
My hands are still shaking. Not from the adrenaline of a Shiny encounter, but from... jumping? I just returned from the Regis' Origin expedition, and let me tell you, this isn't your grandfather's Hoenn. The region has undergone a temporal shift—five years post-Champion coronation. The climate anomalies are back, and so is my anxiety.
I went in expecting a standard collection run. I brought my Master Balls, my spreadsheets, and my False Swipe Breloom. What I found was a region in the middle of a geological identity crisis. It's listed as Beta 1. Do you know what that means for a Completionist? It means the Pokedex is physically impossible to complete. I’m staring at empty slots knowing they cannot be filled. It’s torture.
THE ANOMALY: PLATFORMING PROTOCOLS
Here is the biggest deviation from standard reality: The protagonist has a health bar. I repeat, I have a health bar. There are action sequences. Platforms. Vulnerability. I didn't sign up for a physics engine test; I signed up to catch pocket monsters. These sections are dangerous.
Missable event warning! Save before entering the cave. The action screens are unforgiving. If you mistime a jump or take too much damage from environmental hazards, you don't black out to a Center—you face a Game Over screen. It disrupts the flow of the hunt.
ENVIRONMENTAL ANALYSIS
Visually? The region is stunning. The graphical overhaul brings a remastered Gen 3 aesthetic that hits the nostalgia receptors hard while looking crisp on modern displays. The Soaring mechanic is present, allowing for aerial reconnaissance, and the Mining Underground system suggests a robust method for item acquisition and fossil recovery. I spent three hours just hitting rocks hoping for a Skull Fossil. The dopamine hit is there.
THE CATCH REPORT
Because this is a Beta expedition, the ecosystem is fragmented. I couldn't access the full National Dex. I checked the local marts frantically.
- Link Cable item is available in Department Store. Huge W. (At least, the infrastructure is there for when the population expands).
- Living Dex is possible without cheats. ...Eventually. Currently, the population cap is limited by the Beta walls.
- Best QoL: Infinite Repel system. It's essential when navigating these new, larger maps.
The narrative involving Steven (Máximo) and Wallace (Plubio) dealing with post-weather crisis trauma is compelling, but as a hunter, I care about availability. The legendary golems (Regis) are the focus, but their containment units were sealed off in this version.
FINAL LOG
This region has potential, but it's currently a construction zone. The action elements are a bold experiment, but they might alienate pure collectors who just want turn-based efficiency. I'm filing this under "Watch Closely." My Pokedex remains incomplete, and I won't sleep well until Beta 2 drops.
