LOG ENTRY: 0300 HOURS - THE ITALIAN JOB
My eyes are burning. I haven't blinked in forty minutes. I just landed in the region designated "Pokemon Redempion", and immediately, something is off. The local dialect is Italian. Entirely Italian. I don't speak Italian. But do I let that stop me? Absolutely not. The neurological need to fill the Pokedex transcends language barriers. A Pikachu is a Pikachu in any tongue.
This region is an anomaly. The architecture screams Kanto (FireRed base), yet the atmospheric readings (Abstract Intel) claim it's built on Hoenn (Emerald) structural data. It's a dimensional mess, but for a LVL 100 Explorer, it's just another Tuesday. The map has been repainted—new tiles, new vibes. It feels fresh, even if I can't read the town signs.
THE CATCHING PROTOCOL
Here is the data that actually matters: The local biological laws have been rewritten for solo operatives. Headquarters confirmed that trade evolutions have been patched. I tested this immediately with a Kadabra I found near the new Gym layouts. It evolved. Living Dex is possible without cheats. This is the only metric that separates a playable region from a waste of hard drive space. If I have to load up a second instance to trade with myself, I'm out. Here, I'm locked in.
NOTE: Because I can't read the NPC dialogue, I almost missed a crucial item. Missable event warning! Save before entering the cave to the north of the starting town. The event triggers automatically and I have no idea what they said, but they gave me a Key Item.
REGIONAL VARIANTS & ANOMALIES
The combat simulation has been tweaked. Moves have edited power and accuracy. It throws off my muscle memory—attacks I expect to OHKO are leaving enemies in the red, triggering their potion spam. It’s annoying, but it adds a layer of friction to the grind. The side quests are apparently new, but deciphering them without a translator is like trying to catch a Beldum in a Poke Ball—frustrating and largely based on luck.
I spent hours scouring the tall grass. The encounter rates feel standard, but the distribution is mixed up. I'm seeing species that shouldn't be here. It's chaos. Beautiful, completionist chaos. 100% completion took me 85 hours, mostly because I spent 30 of them trying to figure out which NPC gives the Super Rod in Italian.
FINAL ANALYSIS
Pokemon Redempion is a strange beast. It's a completed expedition, which is rare these days, but the language barrier makes it a niche hunt. The visuals are a step up from standard Kanto drab, and the fact that I can complete the Dex solo saves it from the trash bin. It's not the Battle Frontier-laden paradise of my dreams, but it scratches the itch.
