LOG ENTRY: 2025.03.19 // REGION: RE:CALL
My hands are still shaking. I packed for a full 100% run—Master Balls, spreadsheets, three weeks of rations—only to find the borders of reality shifting under my feet. This isn't just a region; it's a construction site built on the strongest foundation I've ever seen.
THE PHYSICS ENGINE (CFRU ARCHITECTURE)
Let's get the technicals out of the way. The underlying reality of RE:Call is built on the HUBOL engine (CFRU+DPE). For the uninitiated, this means the physics are crisp. We're talking Gen 8 mechanics in a Gen 3 world. Physical/Special split is native. The battle interface has been upgraded to a sleek, monochrome BW style that displays IVs and EVs directly on the summary screen. No more calculating stats with a pen and napkin like a caveman.
FIELD NOTE: The "Move Effectiveness" HUD is active. It tells you if your attack will be Super Effective before you throw it. Essential for minimizing turn counts during speed grinding.
THE HUNT: DEXNAV IS LIFE
I cannot stress this enough: if a region doesn't have DexNav, I don't want to live there. Fortunately, RE:Call implements it flawlessly. I spent six hours in the tall grass on Route 1 just testing the chain reactions. Shiny hunting method: DexNav chaining works perfectly. Seeing the hidden ability and potential IVs before engaging the target? That is the dopamine hit I live for. It turns random encounters into calculated extractions.
THE GEOGRAPHY: A TALE OF THREE REALMS
The map claims to span Sevii, Kanto, and Hoenn. A triple-threat. I saw the tech for Dive, Rock Climb, and Defog integrated into the local Hidden Machine network. The ambition here is staggering. However, my completionist anxiety is spiking. The official intel lists the status as "Progressing". I found blocked paths and "Under Construction" signs where legendary encounters should be.
- Following Entity: A Pikachu unit trails the player. It's a nice callback to the Yellow sector, but unless it helps me catch a Mew, it's just a cosmetic.
- Dimensional Rifts: The local PC system supports "Cross-ROM Battles". You can ostensibly battle entities from the Radical Red or Unbound dimensions. This is high-level tech I haven't seen stabilized often.
THE ANOMALY (CRITICAL WARNING)
Here is the hard truth for my fellow 100-percenters: Living Dex is currently impossible. The biodiversity aims for nearly 1,000 species, but the current simulation is a "demo" state regarding total availability. I hit 151 in the Regional Dex and hit a wall. I started sweating. There is nothing worse than an empty slot #493 that you physically cannot fill because the code hasn't been written yet.
WARNING: Missable event warning! Save before entering the cave. Actually, save before you download. If you need a gold Trainer Card today, this expedition will leave you hungry.
VERDICT
Pokemon RE:Call is a Ferrari chassis without the full interior. The driving mechanics (battles, QoL, DexNav) are superb, but the destination (Post-Game, National Dex) is still being paved. It's a beautiful playground for a casual tourist, but a torture chamber for a completionist like me who needs closure.
