Some challenge

You’re a young boy/girl living in a region filled with vegetable-inspired cities. You’re not a silent protagonist, in fact, you can’t keep your mouth shut. Your rival is just a kind neighbor that wants to battle once in a while, and that makes him unlikeable for the protagonist. As you reach one city after another you slowly realize that, in fact, you can’t get the badges on the normal way. Often you have to break into a pretty normal building, battling casual people, to get it. (The first GYM, for example, is an office building that is currently being renovated into a GYM but being the protagonist, you just fight your way through the old office workers until you get to the box of new badges positioned at the end of the office. The region is filled with eccentric people left and right. Some pretty normal, some pretty much due for a cell. It’s the polar opposite of the bland citizens in FireRed.

MISSION LOG: REGION "RADISH"

Explorer: DexHunter Ace (LVL. 100)
Location: ...Inside a bell pepper? (City Name Unknown)
Pokedex Status: STUCK at 42%. Anxiety levels rising.

THE LANDSCAPE: VEGETABLE SOUP

I touched down in the Radish region expecting a standard biodiversity survey. Instead, I found myself in a culinary hallucination. The local settlements are themed around vegetables. Cute? No. Distracting. I’m trying to scan for Hidden Items and my Dowsing Machine is picking up high-fiber readings everywhere.

The protagonist—my avatar in this world—has a condition. They won't stop talking. Usually, I enjoy a silent vessel so I can focus on the grind, but this kid has an opinion on everything. It slows down the split times between town entry and Center healing. Efficiency loss: roughly 14%.

THE GYM ANOMALY

I need to report a severe violation of League regulations. The Gym Challenge here is... informal. There are no puzzles. There are no sanctioned Leaders. I literally walked into an office building, fought through a gauntlet of disgruntled salarymen, and stole a Badge from a cardboard box.

Completionist Panic: Does this count? If I steal the badge, does the game flag it correctly in the memory address? I checked my Trainer Card six times to make sure the pixel art appeared. It did. But I don't feel clean.

THREAT LEVEL: TOTEM ENCOUNTERS

Here is where the sweat starts. The region features "Totem Pokémon." In Alola, these were boss fights. Here? They are catchable assets. But the intel is terrifying: "Capture, do not escape."

CRITICAL ALERT: Missable event warning! Save before entering the cave. Or the office. Or wherever these giant beasts spawn. If you knock out a Totem, it does not respawn. That is a permanent empty slot in the Living Dex. I had to soft-reset a fight with a Totem Gumshoos (or whatever regional variant this was) 14 times because I critically hit it. My hands are still shaking.

THE CATCHABILITY INDEX

This is a "Beta v1" environment, which is code for "DexHunter Hell." I have found Mega Evolutions, which implies a Gen 6+ roster, but the encounter tables feel unstable. I found a wild starter in a patch of grass near the cabbage-themed town, which is a Huge W for the Living Dex, but then I went three routes without seeing anything new.

The difficulty is spiked. The "casual people" you fight have competitive movesets. I nearly wiped to a Janitor. If you are attempting a Nuzlocke, abort immediately. This is a meat grinder.

FINAL OBSERVATIONS

The region is chaotic. The "Rival" is just a nice neighbor, which removes my drive to crush him. I need animosity to fuel my grind! The game tags say "Completed," but my gut says "Work in Progress." I haven't found the Link Stone equivalent yet. Usually, the Link Cable item is available in Department Store. Huge W. But here? I'm checking every trash can. Nothing yet.

I cannot confirm if the Living Dex is possible without cheats because the region's documentation is as scattered as the protagonist's brain. Proceed with caution.
