LOG ENTRY: JOHTO SECTOR (HOSTILE VARIANT)

I haven't slept in three days. My hands are shaking, not from caffeine, but from the sheer stress of the Union Cave remodeling. I arrived in the Pyrite region expecting a nostalgic stroll through the Crystal era, maybe a quick shiny hunt for a red Gyarados. Negative. This is not a vacation. This is a war zone.

My Pokedex currently sits at 98%, and the anxiety is palpable. The local fauna has been aggressively re-engineered. We aren't talking about a simple level bump; the hostile entities here utilize advanced combat tactics. I saw a Bug Catcher use actual strategy. A Bug Catcher! The threat level is severe.

THE COLLECTION PROTOCOL

Let's get to the numbers because numbers don't lie. Living Dex is possible without cheats. This is the only thing keeping me sane. The local government (Creator: Crystal_) has ensured that all 251 biological specimens are native to this simulation. No trading required. Trade evolutions have been patched into level-up triggers or stone evolutions, which is a neurological relief. I don't have to hook up a second device just to get a Gengar.

However, the catch rates? They feel tweaked. Or maybe I'm just sweating too much on the Game Boy Color interface. I spent four hours tracking down a specific swarm. 100% completion took me 85 hours. That is roughly 30 hours more than a standard Johto run, mostly due to the increased resistance from Gym Leaders who refuse to go down without wiping my team six times.

ENVIRONMENTAL ANOMALIES

The geography has shifted. If you rely on your old maps, you will die. The caves have been remodeled to be more labyrinthine. I found myself lost in Dark Cave for an agonizing duration because I took a left turn that didn't exist in the year 2000. Also, there are about 100 new trainers patrolling the routes. You cannot walk five steps without being engaged in combat.

Missable event warning! Save before entering the cave. There are scripted encounters that function like boss battles. If you walk in unprepared with a team of HM slaves, you will be sent back to the Pokemon Center faster than you can say 'White Out'.

LOGISTICS AND TECH

We are working with Gen 2 hardware here, people. Do not expect the luxury of physical/special splits or flashy DexNavs. This is raw, sprite-based grinding. However, the item distribution is generous. You can find what you need, provided you survive the gauntlet to reach the item ball.

  • Berry System: Functional, essential for survival.
  • TM Availability: improved, but you have to fight for them.
  • Shiny Hunting: Standard 1/8192 odds. No mercy. I am currently 4,000 encounters deep for a shiny Heracross and I am losing my mind.

FINAL ANALYSIS

This region is designed for the hardened veteran, not the tourist. If you want to breeze through and look at pretty sprites, go play a modern rom. If you want to prove you are a Master, Pyrite is the testing ground. The satisfaction of hitting 251 caught in this hostile environment is unmatched.
