LOG ENTRY: DURHANMO SECTOR (PHASE 2)
Pulse rate: 140 BPM. Sweat level: Profuse. I have just engaged with the Durhanmo Region, and my completionist cortex is firing on all cylinders. The local professor offered me twenty-one starter entities. Twenty. One. Do you understand the statistical paralysis involved in that choice? I spent the first six hours just staring at the selection screen, running the permutations for optimal coverage. This isn't just a region; it's a buffet where I'm terrified of missing a dish.
THE COLLECTION DATA (POKEDEX)
The local fauna is a chaotic mix. We are looking at a curated biological survey—Gen 1 through 7 are present, but with a specific injection of 84 species from the later generations. It’s not a full National Dex dump, which actually soothes my anxiety slightly. A tight, completable Regional Dex is better than a bloated, empty one. However, the distribution is erratic.
Living Dex is possible without cheats. I confirmed the existence of the Link Stone technology. This allows for the evolution of trade-dependent specimens like Gengar and Alakazam without needing a second operative. This is critical. If I see a Haunter stuck at level 60 because I can't find a trading partner, I break things. Here, the evolution triggers are self-contained. Huge W.
FIELD MECHANICS & QOL
The local government has finally deregulated Hidden Machines. HMs do not require badges to use, and more importantly, they are forgettable. I repeat: You do not need the Move Deleter. You can overwrite Cut. This is the single greatest advancement in trainer technology since the Master Ball. No more HM mules taking up a valuable slot #6.
- TMs: Infinite use. My hoarding instinct is dormant; I can actually use Thunderbolt without panic.
- Pickpocketing System: A unique local custom allows you to steal items directly. It’s morally grey, but efficiently brilliant for item farming.
- Physical/Special Split: Implemented. Combat data is consistent with modern standards.
ANOMALIES & THREAT ASSESSMENT
The hostile faction, self-identified as 'Jashinists', presents a new narrative threat. They aren't your standard Rocket grunts. The difficulty curve is spiked by custom movesets on all wild encounters. I encountered a Pidgey with moves it had no business knowing. Keep your guard up.
Missable event warning! Save before entering the cave. There are rumors of static encounters that do not respawn if you faint them. I treat every legendary encounter like a bomb disposal operation. Save twice. Then save again.
FINAL LOG
The region feels distinct, not just a Kanto reskin. The inclusion of the Dusk, Dawn, and Shiny Stones creates a smooth evolution pathway for the Gen 4 cross-evos. 100% completion took me 85 hours. That includes resetting for decent natures on the 21 starter options (I eventually settled on a Totodile, don't @ me). It is a manic, content-dense expedition that respects the collector's time.
