MISSION REPORT: NALJO REGION EXPEDITION
Explorer: DexHunter Ace (LVL. 100)
Mission Duration: 73 hours, 42 minutes
Pokedex Completion: 98.7%
Status: OBSESSED. SEND HELP. (Don't actually send help, I'm having the time of my life.)
INITIAL CONTACT
Okay. OKAY. Let me catch my breath. I just emerged from Naljo after three straight weeks of exploration and my hands are still shaking. This region? This region is a completionist's fever dream. RainbowDevs didn't just build a ROM hack—they built a monument to obsessive collectors like myself.
The Naljo region operates on Crystal-era technology but with modernizations that made me weep actual tears. We're talking 252 species across multiple regional sectors. Two full regions. TWENTY gym badges. My spreadsheet grew three new tabs.
POKEDEX VIABILITY ASSESSMENT
Here's what matters: Living Dex is possible without cheats. I need you to understand the weight of those words. Every single species—including regional variants and the absolutely unhinged new typings—can be legitimately captured or evolved within the game's systems.
The regional technology includes:
- Sound Type: A completely new elemental classification. Eleven species carry this typing. I had to rebuild my entire type coverage spreadsheet.
- Gas Type: Another new element. My brain nearly short-circuited cataloging resistances.
- Regional Variants: Naljo forms exist and they COUNT toward completion. They're not just reskins—different stats, different movesets, different everything.
MISSABLE EVENT WARNING! The Magikarp in Clathrite Tunnel can be permanently lost if you solve the ice puzzle incorrectly. The devs patched a softlock here in 0.95, but SAVE BEFORE ENTERING THE CAVE anyway. Trust me.
QUALITY OF LIFE PHENOMENA
The local infrastructure is chef's kiss for hunters like us:
- Link Cable item is available in Department Store. Huge W. Trade evolutions? Handled. No second device needed. No begging strangers on Discord. Just cold, hard in-game currency.
- Running Shoes from the jump. Infinite Repel toggle exists in the options. Best QoL: Infinite Repel system.
- Move Tutors scattered across both regions with reasonable availability.
- The Pokedex actually TRACKS regional forms separately. I almost cried.
The item renaming (ParalyzeHeal → Paralyze Heal, etc.) might seem minor but it proves the devs understand modern standards. These people get it.
SHINY HUNTING PROTOCOLS
Bad news first: No DexNav. This is Crystal-era tech, so we're working with base 1/8192 odds.
Good news: The Pokemon portraits in the overworld now display correct shininess for ALL events. You see that sparkle before commitment. Gift Pokemon, static encounters, everything. Previous builds had portrait bugs for Blastoise and Caterpie lines—patched in 0.95.
I encountered 4 shinies across my 73-hour expedition. Pure odds, pure patience, pure insanity. The hunt is legitimate here.
POST-GAME DENSITY
Twenty badges. Let me say it again. TWENTY. BADGES.
You clear Naljo's eight gyms and think you're done? WRONG. Rijon region opens up. Eight more badges. Then bonus content. Then the Battle Arcade (scoring now fixed as of this build). Then legendary hunts across both regions.
Post-game is massive. Not Battle Frontier massive, but we're talking 30+ hours of content after the "credits" if you're hunting completion. The Saxifrage Prison questline alone took me four hours because I kept getting distracted by spawn tables.
NOTE: The NPC blocking a door in Saxifrage Prison was patched. Previous explorers reported being stuck—this anomaly is resolved in 0.95.0254.
THREAT LEVEL ASSESSMENT
Gym Leaders deploy competent strategies. Not Radical Red levels of brutality, but they'll punish sloppy team composition. The level curve across two regions stays surprisingly balanced—I never felt overleveled despite my compulsive grinding for dex entries.
Counter mechanics now function correctly (fixed this build), and Night Slash properly synergizes with Sharpness. The combat systems are tight.
ANOMALY REPORT
Minor visual glitches in some cave transitions. Nothing game-breaking. The Tri-type defensive matchups were apparently bugged before—now resolved. I encountered zero softlocks across my entire expedition, which is frankly miraculous for a project this ambitious.
Status listed as "unknown" in HQ files, but I'm calling it: this is a complete, polished experience. Version 0.95 runs clean.
FINAL EXPEDITION NOTES
100% completion took me 85 hours on my second playthrough (first was 73 hours at 98.7%—missed one Rijon cave encounter like an absolute fool). The remaining 1.3% haunted my dreams until I found that Dunsparce hiding in a corner I'd walked past forty times.
This is the real deal. Two regions. New types. Full dex without external tools. Trade evos solved. Modern QoL in a Crystal shell.
My spreadsheet is complete. My Pokedex glows at 100%. I can finally sleep.
(I won't sleep. I'm starting a shiny-only run immediately.)
