LOG ENTRY: THE VERTICAL ODYSSEY

Location: The Pit (Layer: Unknown)
Time Elapsed: 85 Hours, 12 Minutes
Pokedex Status: 386/??? (Anxiety Levels: Critical)

Listen to me carefully. I packed for a standard Hoenn expedition. Shorts, Running Shoes, a modest supply of Net Balls. What I walked into was a spatial anomaly that defies the laws of cartography. Headquarters told me this was the "Pit of 100 Trials," but the Intel also mentioned Sylon, Tyron, and Johto. I thought it was a typo. It wasn't.

This isn't just a battle tower; it's a geological blender. Imagine three entire continental plates smashed into a vertical gauntlet. 100% completion took me 85 hours, and half of that was just trying to figure out which dimension I was standing in.

THE TERRAIN: NO GYMS, ONLY CHAOS

Forget the Badge Case. Toss it. It's useless here. The local governance has abolished the Gym Leader system entirely—finally, some innovation! Instead, we're looking at a "Medal" system tied to story quests and Squad Assignments. It feels less like a sport and more like a military operation. You don't just beat a leader; you fulfill a mission parameter.

The visual landscape is a patchwork of custom tiles and color schemes that shift violently as you descend. One minute you're in a pseudo-Johto simulation, the next you're traversing the jagged peaks of Tyron. It's vibrant, but disorienting. I found myself checking my map only to realize I was Running On The Inside of a building that shouldn't physically exist.

THE HUNT: CATCH MECHANICS

Now, for the meat. The dopamine hits. Living Dex is possible without cheats. I repeat: POSSIBLE. The biodiversity in this Pit is staggering. Because the region is a mashup of three different ecosystems (Sylon, Tyron, Johto), the encounter tables are dense. I was seeing species variance that usually requires three separate cartridges.

The best feature? Get Experience Points For Catching A Pokemon. This is the Holy Grail of mechanics. It turns the tedious grind of filling the box into a viable leveling strategy. I caught forty-seven Zigzagoons just to buff my starter, and I don't regret a single one. It feeds the compulsion. Catch. Level. Repeat.

ANOMALIES AND THREATS

It's not all sunshine and shiny charms. The "Squad Assignments" system is buggy. Sometimes the mission triggers feel delayed, like the server is lagging in a single-player game. And while the promise of save compatibility patches exists, playing a Beta 1.2 is like walking on thin ice over a Gyarados nest.

Missable event warning! Save before entering the cave on the Tyron layer. The script there is unstable, and if you trigger the cutscene from the wrong angle, you might lock yourself out of a Medal. I learned this the hard way and lost 4 hours of progress.

VERDICT

This is a completionist's fever dream. It's messy, it's ambitious, and it tries to cram three regions into a format that sounds like a dungeon crawler. It doesn't always work—the pacing is erratic—but the sheer volume of content is undeniable. If you need me, I'll be in the Depths, looking for that last mythical slot.
