LOG ENTRY: SECTOR PINK (BETA 1.1)
Timestamp: 04:00 Hours (I haven't slept in three days)
Location: Unknown Starting Town
Current Pokedex: 0/???
I dropped into the Pokemon Pink region expecting a new frontier for my Living Dex. The intel promised a new story and new locations. I packed my spreadsheet, my calculator, and enough Repels to choke a Koffing. My neurological need to see that 100% completion bar fill up was tingling. But explorers, listen to me closely: this region is unstable. It is a Beta Sector, abandoned since 2018. My completionist heart is currently in atrial fibrillation.
THE ENVIRONMENT: AUDITORY HALLUCINATIONS
The first thing you notice isn't the visuals—it's the audio. The mission briefing mentioned "funny sounds and music." In the field, this translates to distorted cries and tracks that sound like a Jigglypuff singing into a broken fan. It’s distracting. When I’m trying to calculate the catch rate of a wild encounter, I need focus, not a slide whistle sound effect when I throw a ball. It disrupts the flow. It disrupts The Hunt.
THE HUNT: DATA CORRUPTION
I tried to map the encounter tables. I really did. But this is a Beta 1.1 build on a Ruby engine. Do you know what that means for a LVL. 100 Explorer? It means dead ends. It means empty slots that will never be filled.
- The Pokedex: Standard Hoenn framing, but the availability is scattered.
- The Mechanics: Old school. No physical/special split. It feels archaic.
- The Stability: High threat level. Anomalies (bugs) are frequent.
FIELD NOTE: Missable event warning! Save before entering the cave. Or entering a door. Or looking at a tree wrong. The structural integrity of this reality is questionable at best.
THE VERDICT: A COMPLETIONIST'S NIGHTMARE
I judge regions by their "catchability." I want to be able to say, "Living Dex is possible without cheats." But in Sector Pink, I can't guarantee you can even finish the gym challenge, let alone the Dex. The "new story" is there, but it feels like a fever dream cut short. There is no post-game meat here. No Battle Frontier to sink 200 hours into.
Usually, 100% completion took me 85 hours in a standard Hoenn modify. Here? I clocked out early. The risk of save corruption is too high, and the reward—a partial Dex in a joke universe—isn't worth the cortisol spike. If you are a casual tourist looking for a laugh at the "funny sounds," proceed with caution. If you are a Hunter like me? Stay away. It’s an empty slot that refuses to be filled.
