LOG START: SECTOR MUSHROOM KINGDOM
I have infiltrated the region designated as Pokemon Paper Mario Redux. My initial scan of the environment triggered a Code Red. My Pokedex shows ERROR 404. There are no wild encounters in the tall grass. There is no tall grass. There are no Poke Balls. I started hyperventilating in the starting village. How am I supposed to catch them all if there is nothing to catch?
I spent the first hour trying to throw a rock at a Goomba to register it as entry #001. It didn't work. This world operates on a completely alien physics engine mimicking the N64 timeline. The locals call it "RPG Mechanics".
THE ANOMALY: A POKEMON GAME WITHOUT POKEMON
This is a total conversion anomaly. The creator, RedYoshi, has effectively erased the Pokemon biological data and overwritten it with Mario lore. As a completionist, this is torture, yet... intriguing. Instead of filling Pokedex slots, I found myself obsessively collecting Star Pieces and Badges. I created a new spreadsheet immediately. The "Partners" system replaces the party of six. You cannot breed them. You cannot EV train them. But you must recruit them all.
Missable event warning! Save before entering the cave.
The scripting in the early chapters (specifically around the Goomba Village exit) can be volatile. I missed a crucial dialogue trigger and nearly soft-locked my progress. My advice: Save often. The "save states" technology is your friend here.
THE GRIND: BADGE HUNTING
I tried to convince myself that a Living Dex is possible without cheats here, but unless I count capturing the souls of defeated Koopas in my journal, my PC boxes remain tragically empty. However, the completionist urge was satisfied by the Badge system. Finding every hidden block became my new Shiny Hunting. I spent hours hammering every pixel of the background art.
PERFORMANCE REPORT
The visual landscape is vibrant, unlike anything in the Kanto sector. It successfully replicates the "Paper" aesthetic within the GBA limitations. It's not just a palette swap; it's a complete architectural overhaul. The turn-based combat is engaging, utilizing "Action Commands" that require precise timing—much more demanding than spamming A-button Surf.
100% completion took me 25 hours. It is shorter than a standard region traversal, but dense with text and events. There is no post-game Battle Frontier, which is a tragedy, but the narrative arc of the 8 Chapters is satisfyingly meaty.
FINAL LOG ENTRY
This expedition was a shock to the system. No breeding, no trading, no catching. But as a standalone archival entry? It is a technical marvel. Just don't expect to transfer anything to Pokemon Home.
