MISSION LOG: THE VAYNE DISCREPANCY
Timestamp: 03:00 Hours. Pulse Rate: 165 BPM.
Location: Vayne Region (Neo Sun Sector)
Status: HYPERVENTILATING.
I have returned from the Vayne Region, and I need a medic. Not for physical injuries, but for the psychological trauma inflicted on my collector’s soul. I went in expecting a standard expansion—new species, new gyms, maybe a Battle Frontier. What I found was a logistical nightmare designed to break the spirit of any Completionist.
THE COLLECTION CRISIS
Let’s get the catastrophic news out of the way first. Headquarters intel suggested a "unique challenge." The reality? The PC Storage System is non-operational.
Read that again. There is no PC. You have six slots. SIX. For a region that boasts "over 50 available Pokémon." Do you understand the math? That is a 12% retention rate. I had to release a starter to catch a wild encounter. I felt physical pain. Living Dex is possible without cheats? ABSOLUTELY NOT. It is structurally impossible. This isn't a region; it's a survival island where you are forced to cull your own team. 0/10 for catchability.
REGIONAL ANOMALIES & QOL
Despite the panic induced by the storage failure, there are glimmers of advanced tech in Vayne.
- Infinite TMs: The local tech allows for reusable Technical Machines. This is a massive tactical advantage. You can swap movesets on the fly without burning resources.
- Visuals: The visual landscape of this region is vibrant. The architects have overhauled the standard Ruby tilesets, giving the area a distinct, fresh atmosphere. It doesn't look like Hoenn, which is a relief.
- The Roster: The biodiversity is severely limited. We are talking a micro-dex. If you are looking for Slot #493, you are in the wrong dimension.
THREAT LEVEL ASSESSMENT
The hostile entities here are unpredictable. Because you cannot hoard a backup army in the PC, if your main six faint or have bad type matchups, you can't just withdraw a counter. You have to catch a new one and delete an old one. It raises the stakes, sure, but at what cost?
FIELD NOTE: Missable event warning! Save before entering the cave. Actually, save before you breathe. Since you can't store Pokémon, if you accidentally knock out a rare spawn, you might not have the team composition to handle the next threat.
THE VERDICT
This expedition is not for the Collector. It is for the Minimalist. 100% completion took me 85 hours in other regions, but here? You can't 100% anything because you can't keep what you find. It’s a short, anxiety-inducing romp through a small region with interesting plot twists but fatal structural flaws for a DexHunter.
I’m leaving Vayne. I need to go organize my Box 14 in Unbound just to calm down.
