ENTRY LOG: REGION MORGANITE
I packed my rucksack, dusted off my Flashcart, and set out for the Morganite region. I was promised a classic adventure—evil teams, three legendary birds, and mountains to climb. Sounds like Kanto on a Tuesday, right? Well, not quite. I barely stepped off the boat before things got... weird.
THE LOCAL WILDLIFE (AND ANOMALIES)
The local Professor didn't offer me a Bulbasaur or a Squirtle. No, he handed me a "Baby Pokemon" and told me to take care of it. Back in my day, we didn't babysit; we battled! I want a creature that can breathe fire, not one that needs a diaper change.
And then there are the "Event Fakemon". I saw things in the tall grass that didn't look like they belonged in a Pokedex. They looked like something from that other monster-catching show that shall not be named. I hate Fakemon that look like Digimon. If it's not one of the original 151, or at least from Johto or Hoenn, I don't trust it. No gimmicks, just good Pokemon. Is that too much to ask?
THE LANDSCAPE
I will admit, the region itself isn't an eyesore. The sprite work is faithful to Gen 3 style. It's got that crisp FireRed aesthetic that sits nicely on a backlit GBA screen. The mountains—Flare, Bolt, and Glacier—are clearly trying to capture that old Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres magic. It feels familiar, perhaps a bit too familiar.
WARNING: The region operates on a Day/Night cycle. Make sure your screen has a backlight, or you won't see a thing past 6 PM. Just like the old Gold and Silver days, but darker.
THE THREAT LEVEL
There are two teams here, Umbra and Aurora. One wants to enslave the birds, the other wants to hug them. It's the standard "save the world" routine. The grunts aren't particularly tough, but navigating the region requires patience. It's currently in an "Alpha" state, which in explorer terms means the roads aren't fully paved yet. I ran into invisible walls and strange glitches that reminded me of MissingNo, but without the item duplication benefits.
FINAL THOUGHTS
Morganite tries to do something new with the plot, but it clutters the experience with unnecessary creatures and a slow start. I just want to beat the Elite Four, not get involved in a soap opera between two rival clubs. It's playable, but it lacks the polish of a finished map.
