LOG ENTRY: DAY 14
LOCATION: Viento Town Pokemon Center
CURRENT DEX COUNT: ???/???
My hands are shaking. Not from the cold in Viento Town, but from the sheer chaos of this Pokedex. I just returned from the Pokemon Memory Times expedition, and I need to organize my thoughts before I hyperventilate. The region is new. The species are... foreign. And the version tag said "Beta 1.1" despite the Archives listing it as "Completed." Do you know what that does to a man who needs to see the number 100%? It keeps him up at night.
THE LANDSCAPE: A DARKER SHADE OF KANTO
This isn't your happy-go-lucky adventure. The visual landscape of this region is vibrant but steeped in melancholy. You start in Brisa Town, grieving a dead girlfriend. Yeah, heavy stuff immediately. The narrative tone is dark, almost suffocatingly so. For an explorer like me, the story is usually just noise between Gym Badges, but here, the narrative forces you to pay attention. The mapping is decent, with new graphics that separate it from the standard FireRed architecture, but I found myself checking corners constantly, paranoid about missables.
FIELD NOTE: The atmosphere is heavy. Hostile entities proved extremely dangerous. This isn't a casual stroll; the difficulty spike is real. Prepare your team accordingly.
THE ANOMALY: FAKEMON & THE DEX
Here is where my eye starts twitching. The local fauna includes undocumented species—Fakemon. For a completionist, this is a double-edged sword. On one hand, the thrill of discovery. On the other, the terror of not having a wiki. I spent hours in the tall grass just trying to figure out if these things evolve or if they are single-stage dead ends. Living Dex is possible without cheats... theoretically. But without a documentation guide, you are flying blind. I hate flying blind.
The integration of these new species is interesting, but it clashes with my neurological need for order. If you are a purist, this might trigger a migraine. If you are an explorer who likes the unknown, it's a buffet.
MISSION CRITICAL: ARCEUS & THE ENDGAME
The intel mentions Arceus, the Alpha Creator. This plot thread weaves through the region like a exposed wire. I encountered a wounded man in Viento Town who spilled the beans. The stakes are high, and the script reflects that. However, the "Beta" tag hangs over the experience like a dark cloud.
WARNING: Missable event warning! Save before entering the cave near the outskirts of Viento. The triggers for the story events can be finicky, and you do not want to lock yourself out of a legendary encounter because you walked through the wrong door.
THE VERDICT: INCOMPLETE DATA
I clocked out early. 100% completion took me 15 hours—not because the game is short, but because the current build (Beta 1.1) feels like a fragment of a larger picture, despite the "Completed" tags in the database. The features are there, the difficulty is there, but the polish required for a true Level 100 Dex Hunter satisfaction isn't quite ready. There is no Battle Frontier yet. No massive post-game sink. Just a raw, emotional story and a lot of grinding against strong opponents.
Is it catchable? Yes. Is it satisfying? Only if you like your Pokemon games with a side of depression and high difficulty. I'm going to reorganize my PC boxes now. The disorder is getting to me.
