LOG ENTRY: REGION ZHERY & LAUREN
Status: HYPER-FOCUSED
Pokedex: 98% (Current)
Caffeine Level: Lethal
Listen to me. Sit down and listen. I have just spent the last week sprinting through not one, but two entire continents. My thumbs are blistered. My A-button is sticking. But the numbers... the numbers are beautiful.
This isn't just a stroll through the park; it's a marathon. We are talking about the Zhery Region and the Lauren Region. Do you understand the logistical implications of a dual-region expedition? It means double the badges, double the encounter tables, and double the dopamine hits when that ball clicks shut.
THE CATCH: LIVING DEX POTENTIAL
Let's cut to the chase—the only thing that matters. The local professors claim this environment supports species from Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, and Unova. My scanners confirm this is accurate. Living Dex is possible without cheats.
I found Legendaries standing around in the overworld like they were waiting for a bus. Dialga, Palkia, Arceus—they are all here. Usually, I have to glitch through a wall or perform a frame-perfect ritual to find a mythical. Here? They are handed out as rewards for breathing. It’s a completionist's fever dream. I didn't even have to trade. The trade evolutions seem to be patched to level-up or item-based triggers, which is the only civilized way to run a region.
ANOMALY REPORT: THE "MEGA" PHENOMENON
Here is where things get weird. The local technology (read: game engine) is running on a modified Ruby architecture. It's ancient tech, folks. To bypass the hardware limitations, the locals have developed a bizarre form of Mega Evolution. It happens out of battle.
You use a stone, the Pokemon transforms, and it stays that way until you revert it. It feels less like a temporary combat boost and more like a permanent genetic alteration. For a taxonomist like me, this is confusing. Does it count as a new Pokedex entry? My database is screaming, but the power boost is undeniable. Just don't expect the flashy in-battle animations of the Kalos sector.
THE TERRAIN & THREATS
Visually, Zhery is distinct. It doesn't look like Hoenn. The tilesets are custom, vibrant, and fresh. However, navigation is a nightmare. The "Harder Puzzles" warning in the briefing was not a joke. There are Gyms where the floor is a slide puzzle designed by a sadist.
FIELD NOTE: Missable event warning! Save before entering the cave in the Lauren region's northern sector. The scripting triggers can be volatile on this Ruby base. If you walk the wrong way, you might lock a sequence. I keep three backup saves. You should too.
POST-GAME: THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
Just when I thought I could sleep, the World Championship opened up. Post-game is massive. Battle Frontier included. You aren't just fighting random NPCs; you are fighting Gym Leaders and Champions from every known region. Ash Ketchum is here. I had to battle him. I crushed his Pikachu. It was cathartic.
100% completion took me 85 hours. That is not a typo. Between the two regions, the Elite Four rounds, and the World Championship, the content density is absurdly high. If you are looking for a quick fix, go play FireRed. If you want to drown in content, this is your ocean.
FINAL DIAGNOSTIC
Is it perfect? No. The Ruby base is creaky. The translation can be... abstract. The hitbox on some ledges is questionable. But can you catch Arceus without an Action Replay? Yes. Does it have 5 generations of mons crammed into a GBA cart? Yes.
I need a nap. My Pokedex is glowing.
