MISSION REPORT: POKEMON MAPLE
Explorer: DexHunter Ace (LVL. 100)
Region: Maple District System
Expedition Duration: 4.2 hours
Pokedex Completion: 3.7% (8 of 216+ species catalogued)
INITIAL ASSESSMENT
Okay. OKAY. Deep breaths. I need to talk about this one because my completion tracker is having a crisis.
I entered the Maple region expecting a full expedition. The briefing mentioned 10 Districts, 10 Gym Badges, over 100 NEW species alongside Gens 1-5. My spreadsheet was READY. I had color-coded tabs. I had a shiny hunting rotation planned.
What I found was... a demo. A beautiful, tantalizing, incomplete demo.
THE LANDSCAPE
Let me be clear about what's actually HERE versus what's PROMISED. The region uses a unique "District" system—10 mini-regions, each with distinct visual tilesets. I explored District 1 extensively. The visual landscape is genuinely striking; this isn't your standard FireRed tileset reskin. C.MeaX crafted custom environments that feel fresh. The Elite Battle System makes encounters visually dynamic.
But here's where my eye starts twitching: only ONE district is playable. One gym badge obtainable. Eight—EIGHT—new Pokémon catchable out of the 100+ promised.
MISSABLE EVENT WARNING! The region features a "Morality Compass" system. Your choices apparently affect story branches. I couldn't verify long-term consequences because... there's no long-term content to reach. Save before EVERY major dialogue choice regardless.
POKEDEX VIABILITY REPORT
This is where I start hyperventilating into a paper bag.
- Living Dex Status: IMPOSSIBLE. Not because of trade locks or version exclusives—because the content simply doesn't exist yet.
- New Species: The 8 available Fakemon show creative design. Genuinely interesting typings and concepts. But 8 out of 100+? That's 8% availability. My completion percentage is capped by missing content.
- Shiny Hunting: Standard Essentials v17.2 odds (1/8192 base). No DexNav. No chaining methods detected. No Shiny Charm because there's no complete dex to earn one.
The HM replacement system is a genuine quality-of-life blessing—Key Items that remove obstacles permanently. No HM slave required. That's the kind of regional technology I respect. Best QoL: Infinite Repel system is NOT present, but the Key Item approach shows the developer understands what makes exploration tolerable.
THREAT ASSESSMENT
Difficulty was... moderate? Hard to calibrate when you're fighting ONE gym leader. The Elite Battle System adds visual flair to combat, but I couldn't assess endgame challenge scaling because there IS no endgame.
The branching story paths (3-5 hours of content) suggest replayability, but replaying incomplete content for different dialogue branches feels like organizing an empty Pokédex by National Number. Technically possible. Spiritually devastating.
CRITICAL ANOMALIES
The intelligence briefing listed this as "Completed" in tags. This is FALSE. The last update was June 28, 2021. Over two years of silence. The project appears abandoned at roughly 10% completion.
FIELD NOTE: Three save file support (Marin's code) is implemented and functional. Small mercy for those wanting to explore story branches. But you'll be branching through the same 3-5 hours repeatedly.
No post-game content exists. No Battle Frontier. No legendary hunts. No endgame facilities. The post-game isn't "massive"—it's nonexistent because we never reach the post-game.
FINAL EXPEDITION NOTES
I spent 4.2 hours in Maple. My Pokédex shows 8 entries. My completion percentage for available content sits at approximately 87.3%, but that "available content" represents maybe 10% of the promised experience.
The bones are GOOD. The District concept is clever. The custom Fakemon designs show creativity. The QoL features (HM replacements, save files, Elite Battle System) demonstrate a developer who understood what makes Pokémon exploration enjoyable.
But I cannot recommend this for completionists. I cannot recommend this for Shiny Hunters. I cannot recommend this for anyone whose brain, like mine, requires that 100% completion screen to function.
This is an abandoned construction site with excellent blueprints. And that makes it worse, somehow. Because I can SEE what it could have been.
Link Cable item availability: Unverifiable—didn't encounter trade evolutions in available content.
Living Dex possible without cheats: NEGATIVE. Content doesn't exist.
100% completion time estimate: N/A. Cannot complete what isn't finished.
My spreadsheet weeps.
