LOG ENTRY: VISUAL CONTACT CONFIRMED
Timestamp: 0800 Hours
Location: Route 1, Kanto Sector (Remixed)
Current Dex Count: 001/???
I’ve landed in a variation of the Kanto region that feels... wrong, but in the best possible way. The local ecosystem has evolved. We aren't walking blindly into tall grass anymore hoping for a Pidgey and praying it’s not a Rattata. The targets are visible. I repeat: Wild entities are visible on the overworld map.
For a completionist, this is a distinct tactical advantage. I can identify, track, and engage specific species without wasting seconds on unwanted battle transitions. It’s a neurological balm. My dopamine receptors fired the moment I saw a Nidoran scurrying near Viridian City and could simply walk around it to prioritize a Mankey.
THE HUNTING GROUNDS
The biodiversity here is shattered in the most glorious way. It’s not just the standard Kanto 151. I’ve logged sightings of Alolan and Galarian forms co-existing with native species. This complicates the census but expands the collection significantly. The integration of Mega Evolution implies access to Key Stones, likely post-Badge 7. I’m currently scanning every NPC dialogue tree for clues on where the Mega Bracelet is stashed.
FIELD NOTE: The "Let's Go" capture mechanics (throwing balls without battling) have been adapted for the GBA interface. It’s a hybrid system. You still battle, but the context of the encounter is dictated by your approach.
ANOMALIES & QOL
The region has been terraformed. Pallet Town looks different; the architecture has shifted to mimic the Switch-era simulations. However, the most critical intel for my fellow collectors involves the trade evolutions. I confirmed the local vendor inventory early.
Link Cable item is available in Department Store. Huge W. I evolved my Kadabra immediately. No waiting for a second operative to connect via unstable wireless signals. This is the gold standard for solo expeditions.
However, be warned: The sheer density of overworld sprites can cause minor visual lag—glitches in the matrix. It’s a fair trade-off for the ability to cherry-pick your targets. I did notice some text anomalies, likely translation artifacts from the region's architect (Kevin PokeFan), but nothing that hinders the mission.
THE VERDICT
Is this the definitive Kanto experience? For a shiny hunter or a living dex obsessive, it’s a paradise. You cut the noise. You focus on the catch. I haven't slept in two days because the pacing is so accelerated.
Living Dex is possible without cheats. I’m sitting at 92% region completion, and I haven't hit a hard wall yet. The expanded roster means you're going to need more boxes. Manage your storage accordingly.
100% completion took me 38 hours. That’s a record pace for a Dex this size, mostly thanks to the overworld visibility eliminating RNG frustration. If you want to fill those slots efficiently, this is your deployment zone.
