MISSION REPORT: POKEMON LEGENDS CELEBI

Explorer: DexHunter Ace (LVL. 100)
Region: Reimagined Johto — Temporal Variant
Base Coordinates: Pokemon Crystal
Build Detected: v0.0.1
Status Classification: EARLY ACCESS — First Gym Only
Expedition Duration: Approximately 3.2 hours before I hit the wall. Literally. The wall. There is no more game past Gym 1.

⏱️ INITIAL DEPLOYMENT — 00:00:00

Okay. OKAY. Let me set the scene. You boot this up and immediately — immediately — you're handed a Hisuian starter. Cyndaquil, Rowlet, or Oshawott. Hisuian variants present in a Gen 2 landscape. The temporal anomaly lore actually makes this work narratively; Celebi's domain over time justifies dragging Hisuian species into Johto's timeline. I picked Cyndaquil because I'm not a monster, and because I needed to see if Hisuian Typhlosion's Ghost/Fire typing was properly implemented down the evolutionary line. Spoiler: I couldn't evolve it far enough to confirm. Because. The game. Stops. At Gym 1.

CRITICAL STATUS ALERT: This is version 0.0.1. The expedition terminates after the first Gym. Everything I report beyond that point is projection, hope, and caffeine-fueled speculation.

🗺️ THE LANDSCAPE

The reimagined Johto feels familiar but shifted. Routes are restructured. The story premise — Ilex Forest under some kind of existential threat, Celebi recruiting you as its temporal operative — is genuinely more compelling than "go get eight badges because a Professor told you to." DWG has rebuilt the narrative scaffolding here and I respect that. The region's visual presentation is standard Crystal-era terrain, but the encounter tables have been shaken up. Hisuian species appearing alongside classic Johto fauna creates this surreal biodiversity that had me checking every single grass patch compulsively.

Running Shoes from the start. Best QoL: Infinite Repel system — wait, no. Let me not get ahead of myself. Running Shoes are confirmed operational from minute one. That alone elevates the traversal experience above vanilla Crystal by a factor of "my sanity." The $1 Rare Candies available in shops are... interesting. That's a deliberate design choice for accessibility. For a completionist, it means EV training discipline goes out the window unless you're self-imposing restrictions, but the fact that IVs, EVs, and natures are all present in the system architecture means the underlying infrastructure for competitive-grade specimen collection EXISTS. I just can't stress-test it yet because — say it with me — the expedition ends at Gym 1.

📋 POKEDEX ASSESSMENT

This is where my palms started sweating. The mission brief claims: "Complete the Pokédex with all available Pokémon." That's a PROMISE. That's a blood oath to someone like me. But I cannot verify it. I caught approximately 18 species in my 3.2 hours, which puts me at what I estimate is maybe 7-9% of whatever the full regional dex looks like. Fairy type is integrated. Physical/Special Split is active and correctly implemented from what I tested. Hisuian forms occupy their own dex slots. All good signs.

MISSABLE EVENT WARNING! Save before entering the cave. — I say this preemptively because the Ilex Forest sequence has a narrative trigger that I suspect might lock you out of early encounters if you rush through it. I went back and checked: the area remains accessible. But in future builds? With a time-travel plot? I don't trust ANY door in this region. Save constantly.

The big question — the question that kept me up — is whether Living Dex is possible without cheats. The infrastructure suggests yes. PSS means no trade evolution softlocks if they implement a Link Cable item. $1 Candies mean leveling for evolution completion is trivial. But I cannot confirm Link Cable item availability because I haven't reached a Department Store. I haven't reached ANYTHING past Falkner's spiritual successor. If DWG follows through and the Link Cable item is available in Department Store — Huge W. But that's a conditional W. A theoretical W. A W I'm manifesting into existence through sheer willpower.

🔬 ANOMALY LOG

No critical anomalies detected in the v0.0.1 build. No crashes, no Glitch Cities, no corrupted save data. For a 0.0.1 release, the stability was honestly surprising. The PSS calculations appeared accurate across the handful of battles I obsessively documented. Fairy-type interactions resolved correctly against Dragon-types in wild encounters. I didn't encounter any broken movesets or phantom abilities.

One minor behavioral anomaly: NPC pathfinding near the Gym entrance had a trainer who seemed to flicker between two tiles. Non-game-breaking. Cosmetic at worst. I'm documenting it because that's what I DO.

⚔️ THREAT LEVEL

Difficult to assess with only one Gym Leader as a data point. The first Gym Leader fielded a competent team that wasn't trivial, but the $1 Candy economy means you can overlevel into oblivion if you choose. Nuzlocke mode is reportedly available as a toggle, which is a strong QoL inclusion for the masochists among us. I didn't engage it because I'm here to CATCH things, not watch them die.

Without a full game to calibrate against, I'm estimating a moderate threat level that scales with self-imposed restrictions. The Candy economy is the pressure valve — it lets casual explorers breeze through while purists can ignore it entirely.

🎯 COMPLETIONIST VIABILITY — THE HONEST TRUTH

Here's where I have to be brutally transparent with the Archives. I WANT to give this a glowing field report. The premise is electric. Hisuian forms in a Crystal-era Johto? Time travel narrative with Celebi at the center? PSS, Fairy type, and a promise of full dex completion? That's my entire wish list written in code.

But I can't rate a promise. I can only rate what I walked through.

  • Content available: Approximately 1-2 hours of story content, one Gym, a handful of routes.
  • Dex completion possible in current build: No. Not even close. Maybe 15-20% of total species at maximum optimistic estimate.
  • Post-game: Non-existent. We haven't even reached mid-game.
  • Shiny hunting viability: Unknown. I didn't encounter any modified shiny odds or chaining mechanics in the available content. Standard Crystal-era odds (1/8192) would be... painful.
  • Battle Frontier: No data.

If this were a finished product with everything the mission brief promises? I'd be looking at potential 4.0+ territory. The foundation is SOLID. The QoL decisions are smart. The narrative hook is genuinely compelling. But right now, in v0.0.1, I'm rating what exists — a polished, promising, but radically incomplete expedition.

FIELD NOTE: I am adding this region to my active monitoring list. When DWG pushes the next build, I will be the first boot on the ground. My spreadsheet already has placeholder rows for every Hisuian form. I am ready. The dex slots are WAITING.

📊 FINAL EXPEDITION METRICS

  • Completion percentage achieved: Estimated 4.7% of total projected content
  • Species catalogued: 18 confirmed
  • Hours logged: 3.2 hours (includes 45 minutes of re-checking every grass patch for encounters I might have missed)
  • Crashes encountered: 0
  • Anomalies logged: 1 (minor NPC flicker)
  • Emotional state upon hitting end-of-content wall: Devastated. Inconsolable. Already refreshing the PokeCommunity thread for update announcements.

This is not a skip. This is a "set your alerts and wait." The bones of something genuinely special are here. But bones don't fill a Pokédex. I need the full skeleton. I need the MEAT. Come back to me with v1.0 and we'll talk about that 100% completion run. Until then, my spreadsheet stays open and my Repels stay stocked.

— DexHunter Ace, signing off. Dex incomplete. Status: UNACCEPTABLE. Awaiting resupply.
