MISSION REPORT: POKEMON LAST KING
Explorer: DexHunter Ace (LVL. 100)
Region: Last King Territory
Base Sector: FireRed Architecture
Mission Duration: 4.7 hours (INCOMPLETE - SEE BELOW)
EXPEDITION STATUS: CRITICAL FAILURE
I need to be upfront with you all. My hands are literally shaking as I type this. Not from excitement. From frustration. This expedition was cut short at approximately 23% completion due to circumstances beyond my control.
The premise had me HYPED. Playing as N? THE N? The guy who talks to Pokemon and has that whole tragic backstory? Sign me up. I packed my bags, updated my spreadsheets, and prepared for a deep dive into what I hoped would be a completionist's paradise.
I was wrong.
THE LANDSCAPE
Visually, this region presents modified terrain that diverges from standard Kanto cartography. New tile work is present, and the soundtrack has been altered to provide a different atmospheric experience. N's sprite work is... acceptable. The aesthetic changes suggest effort was made to create something distinct from the base sector.
But here's where my eye starts twitching.
LANGUAGE BARRIER ANOMALY
This entire region operates in Italian.
I don't speak Italian. My Pokedex doesn't translate Italian. My spreadsheets are in English, Japanese, and French. NOT ITALIAN.
CRITICAL WARNING: All text, menus, item descriptions, and NPC dialogue are in Italian. If you cannot read Italian, your completion percentage will suffer DRAMATICALLY.
I couldn't tell what moves my Pokemon were learning. I couldn't read item descriptions to know if a Link Cable item is available in Department Store. I was navigating blind, and for a completionist? That's a death sentence.
POKEDEX ASSESSMENT
Unable to fully evaluate. The regional Pokedex appeared to contain a mix of generations, but without being able to read encounter data or NPC hints, I cannot confirm if a Living Dex is possible without cheats. This is KILLING me. There could be missable events everywhere and I'd never know.
Missable event warning! Save before entering... honestly, save before entering ANYTHING because I have no idea what triggers what.
QOL FEATURES
From what I could decipher through trial and error:
- Physical/Special split appears to be absent (FireRed base limitations)
- Running shoes available early - confirmed
- Infinite Repel system - NOT DETECTED
- Trade evolution solutions - UNKNOWN (couldn't read item descriptions)
- Shiny hunting method - untested due to language barrier
The lack of readable documentation means I cannot verify ANY quality-of-life features that matter to completionists. My spreadsheet sits empty. EMPTY.
THREAT LEVEL
Difficulty seemed moderate from what I experienced, but again - I was essentially button-mashing through menus hoping I was selecting the right options. Hard to gauge threat level when you can't read what's threatening you.
POST-GAME EVALUATION
Did not reach. Cannot confirm if post-game is massive. Cannot confirm Battle Frontier inclusion. Cannot confirm ANYTHING about endgame content. My completion percentage sits at a pathetic 23% and it's going to haunt me.
BETA STATUS CONCERNS
This is labeled Beta 1, which means:
- Content may be incomplete
- Bugs and anomalies are expected
- Features may change in future versions
For completionists, beta territory is dangerous. You might invest 50+ hours only to have your save become incompatible with the next release. I've been burned before. I have the therapy bills to prove it.
FINAL FIELD NOTES
The N storyline concept is genuinely interesting. Playing from his perspective during the Black/White era could offer unique narrative opportunities. But I cannot in good conscience recommend this expedition to fellow completionists in its current state.
If you're fluent in Italian? Maybe give it a shot and report back. I need someone to tell me if the Pokedex is completable. I need to know if there are shiny hunting methods. I need CLOSURE.
100% completion took me... it didn't. It didn't take me anywhere because I couldn't get there. This is my villain origin story.
I'll be monitoring for English patches or future updates. The foundation might be solid, but without accessibility for non-Italian speakers, this region remains locked to me.
My Pokedex weeps.
