Mission Duration: 12 hours (Demo 0.1 exhausted)
Current Pokedex Completion: 47.3% (182/386 registered)
INITIAL ASSESSMENT
Okay. OKAY. Deep breaths, Ace. Let me tell you about this region because my hands are still shaking from the implications. Kanto Roads drops you into a reimagined Kanto sector with the National Dex unlocked from minute one. Do you understand what that means? I saw a Ralts before I even got my running shoes. A RALTS. IN VIRIDIAN FOREST. I almost passed out.
The regional authorities have implemented some fascinating local technology here. Fairy-type energy signatures are fully operational. Physical/Special split has been calibrated correctly—my Gyarados can finally use its muscles instead of pretending Hydro Pump comes from its brain. These aren't just patches; this is a complete infrastructural overhaul.
THE LANDSCAPE
The cartographers went absolutely feral on the map redesigns. Routes I've walked a thousand times in standard Kanto feel alien now. New pathways, extended grass patches, hidden corners that made my completionist brain light up like a Christmas Voltorb. I found myself checking every single tile because what if there's a hidden item I missed?
Sevii Islands? Gone. Wiped from the map. At first I panicked—that's prime post-game real estate! But then I realized: they've redistributed the entire 386-species ecosystem across the mainland. Everything. Accessible. No trade-locked nonsense.
CRITICAL FIELD NOTE: Only evolving Pokemon by level up or using stone. This means trade evolutions are FIXED. Link Cable item is available in Department Store. Huge W. I nearly cried when I evolved my Haunter without begging a stranger on the internet.
THREAT ASSESSMENT
Trainer rosters have been completely restructured. These aren't your grandmother's Bug Catchers anymore. Hostile entities proved moderately challenging—updated movesets mean even early-route trainers pack coverage moves. Gym Leaders haven't been pushovers, though the difficulty feels calibrated for a standard expedition rather than a hardcore survival run.
The wild encounter tables are dense. DENSE. I'm talking "every route has 8-12 species" dense. My catching arm got a workout. PokeMarts now sell more items, including evolution stones earlier than expected, which streamlined my evolution grinding significantly.
POKEDEX VIABILITY ANALYSIS
Here's where I need to temper expectations. Living Dex is possible without cheats—in theory. The framework exists. All 386 species are supposedly catchable within this region. However...
This is Demo 0.1. DEMO. ZERO-POINT-ONE.
I hit walls. Hard walls. Content simply ends. Routes lead to unfinished areas. Some Pokemon that should be available based on the dex structure are nowhere to be found yet. My completion percentage is stuck at 47.3% not because I'm bad at my job, but because the rest of the region doesn't exist yet.
Missable event warning! Several scripted Pokemon events are in place, but documentation is sparse. Save before entering ANY building that looks plot-relevant. I encountered two scripted legendary encounters with zero warning. ZERO. My paranoid save-state habit saved me.
QUALITY OF LIFE INFRASTRUCTURE
The QoL implementations present are solid:
- Physical/Special split functioning perfectly
- Updated move data (power, accuracy, effects) aligned with modern standards
- Evolution stones purchasable—no hunting for Moon Stones in Mt. Moon for 3 hours
- Expanded mart inventories
- Rewritten dialogue that doesn't make me want to mash A through every conversation
What's MISSING from a completionist standpoint:
- No visible shiny hunting method enhancements detected. Standard 1/8192 odds presumed. Pain.
- No DexNav or chaining system observed
- Post-game content: NONEXISTENT (demo limitation)
- No Battle Frontier, no post-game facilities, no endgame grind zones
ANOMALY REPORT
Encountered several minor anomalies during expedition. Nothing game-breaking, but a few dialogue triggers fired incorrectly, and one NPC referenced events that hadn't occurred yet in my timeline. Standard demo instability. No Glitch Cities detected. No corruption events. The foundation is stable.
FINAL EXPEDITION NOTES
Look. I want to love this region. The bones are GOOD. A complete Kanto reimagining with full National Dex access, trade evolution fixes, and modernized mechanics? That's my exact wishlist. But I can't in good conscience rate a demo that's maybe 40% complete as a full expedition.
My completionist soul is in agony. I can SEE the empty Pokedex slots. I can FEEL the Pokemon that should be there. The promise of "Catch all 386" haunts me because right now? I can't. The content isn't there yet.
100% completion took me... well, it CAN'T take me anything because 100% isn't achievable in this build. Current maximum completion sits around 47-50% depending on how thoroughly you scour available areas. I clocked 12 hours squeezing every drop of content from this demo.
RECOMMENDATION: Bookmark this region. Set an alert for version updates. The infrastructure for a completionist paradise exists. But until we get a full release, this is a taste test, not a meal.
DexHunter Ace, signing off. My Pokedex has 204 empty slots and I can hear each one of them screaming.
