MISSION REPORT: POKEMON JETBLACK
Explorer: DexHunter Ace (LVL. 100)
Region: Unova (Enhanced Sector)
Base Coordinates: Pokemon Black
Mission Duration: 47 hours, 23 minutes
Pokedex Completion: 100.00%
INITIAL ASSESSMENT
My hands are still shaking. Do you understand what just happened here? Every. Single. Unova. Pokemon. Obtainable. No trading. No events. No begging some guy on Discord to send you a Genesect at 3 AM. Living Dex is possible without cheats. I nearly cried when I caught Meloetta in the post-game. Actually cried. My spreadsheet has never looked so beautiful.
This region operates on pure completionist logic. Someone at HQ understood the assignment. The original Unova expedition was already solid, but JetBlack? This is Unova with the safety locks removed and the Pokedex handed to you on a silver platter—if you're willing to work for it.
REGIONAL PHENOMENA: QOL SYSTEMS
Let me break down what makes this region tick for collectors like us:
- Trade Evolution Protocol: ELIMINATED. Link Cable item is available in Department Store. Huge W. Boldore evolves by level. Gurdurr evolves by level. No more staring at an empty Conkeldurr slot wondering if you'll ever find a trading partner. This alone bumps my rating.
- HM Deletion Technology: As of regional update v1.2, HMs are unlearnable. Your team composition is no longer held hostage by Surf and Strength. Pure freedom.
- Berry Distribution Network: Berry Bundle Sellers scattered across Unova. Pinch berries, resist berries, restoration berries—all purchasable. Competitive breeding and battle prep just got infinitely smoother.
- Mythical Access Points: Liberty Garden is accessible via Liberty Pass. Keldeo, Meloetta, and Genesect are all catchable in post-game zones. No mystery gifts. No expired events from 2011. Just exploration and capture.
NOTE: Challenger's Cave and Dreamyard Basement are now fully explorable with trainers and items. Don't skip them—rare encounters await.
WILD ENCOUNTER DIVERSITY
The encounter tables have been completely restructured. Pokemon that were locked to late-game routes? Available earlier. That Litwick you wanted for your team? You can grab one before the fourth badge. The region respects your time and your team-building preferences.
I documented 156 unique species across all routes, caves, and special areas. The distribution is intelligent—no more grinding the same three Pokemon for six hours. Variety is the lifeblood of a completionist run, and JetBlack delivers.
THREAT ASSESSMENT: TRAINER DIFFICULTY
Hostile entities proved moderately dangerous. Gym Leaders have received tactical upgrades—new Pokemon, held items, and actual strategies. Elesa's team nearly ended my Nuzlocke-adjacent run (I wasn't Nuzlocking, but I have standards). The 17 new battles scattered throughout the campaign and post-game provide legitimate challenge.
That said, this isn't Radical Red territory. Threat level sits comfortably at "Enhanced Vanilla"—harder than base Black, but not controller-throwing hard. Perfect for completionists who want engagement without losing their shiny hunting sanity.
POST-GAME EXPEDITION LOG
Post-game is massive. Not Battle Frontier massive, but 13 Gym Leader rematches plus the Striaton Brothers gauntlet? That's substantial. I spent 12 of my 47 hours purely in post-game content, hunting down every rematch and documenting every new encounter.
Missable event warning! Save before entering any Mythical encounter zones. Keldeo, Meloetta, and Genesect are one-shot catches. Bring your best balls and your patience.
SHINY HUNTING VIABILITY
Standard Gen 5 shiny mechanics apply—1/8192 base odds, no DexNav equivalent, no chain fishing. Masuda Method functions normally if you can acquire foreign Ditto (possible through expanded encounter tables). Not ideal for dedicated shiny hunters, but functional.
Time investment for shiny living dex: approximately 400+ additional hours beyond base completion. I'm not there yet. But I will be.
ANOMALY REPORT
Zero game-breaking glitches encountered across 47 hours. No corrupted saves. No softlocks. No Glitch Cities. The region is stable—remarkably so for an enhanced sector of this scope. Documentation provided by regional authorities is comprehensive: encounter tables, stat changes, moveset updates, trainer rosters. My spreadsheet integrated seamlessly.
COMPLETION STATISTICS
- Pokedex: 156/156 (100.00%)
- Badges: 8/8
- Post-Game Battles: 17/17
- Mythicals Secured: Keldeo, Meloetta, Genesect (all three)
- Total Play Time: 47 hours, 23 minutes
- Rage Quits: 0 (professional integrity maintained)
FINAL FIELD NOTES
JetBlack isn't trying to reinvent Unova. It's trying to perfect it for people like me—people who see an incomplete Pokedex and feel physical discomfort. Every QoL decision serves the collector. Trade evolutions gone. Mythicals accessible. Encounters expanded. Documentation thorough.
This is how enhancement hacks should operate. Respect the source material. Remove the friction. Let completionists complete.
My only minor grievance: no infinite repel toggle system. Manual repel management in 2024 feels archaic. But that's a nitpick against an otherwise pristine expedition.
Pokedex status: FULL. Dopamine levels: MAXIMUM. Sleep schedule: DESTROYED BUT WORTH IT.
DexHunter Ace, signing off. Time to update the master spreadsheet.
