LOG ENTRY: THE IRIS ANOMALY
Timestamp: 0300 Hours. Caffeine Level: Critical. Pokedex Status: Stalled at 92%.
I stepped into the Iris region expecting a standard Kanto remix, but this is... distinct. The local archives claim I am the descendant of "Ash and Misti". Yes, Misti. The spelling error is etched into the very fabric of this reality. It sets the tone for the entire expedition: charmingly ambitious but rough around the edges. It’s a completely new landmass, distinct from Kanto or Johto, which is a relief for my visual cortex, but the ecosystem is in total chaos.
THE FAUNA: GEN 1-4 BIODIVERSITY
The biodiversity here is the main draw. We have species from Kanto through Sinnoh cohabitating in a frenzied ecosystem. For a collector, this is a dopamine minefield. I spotted a Garchomp line in the wild, which usually requires strict breeding protocols in other regions. However, the distribution logic is erratic. You'll find tropical species next to ice types. It defies ecological sense, but it fills the slots. I haven't slept in two days because I'm tracking down a Sinnoh starter that shouldn't logically exist in this biome.
NOTE: Keep your tracking spreadsheet open. The encounter tables are not standardized, and some species appear in only one specific patch of grass.
THE MISSION: LUGIA VS CELEBI
The local lore revolves around a territorial dispute between Lugia and Celebi. This is the "White Whale" of the expedition. I spent 12 hours resetting for a decent nature on the Celebi encounter. Missable event warning! Save before entering the cave. If you knock it out, the entity dissipates permanently. It does not respawn. I repeat: IT DOES NOT RESPAWN. This is a cardinal sin in modern cartography and nearly caused me a panic attack.
TECHNICAL LIMITATIONS & QOL
Here is where the sweat starts. The region feels... unstable. My DexNav is glitching. The locals call this reality "Beta 1", yet the travel brochures claim it is "Completed". It’s a Schrödinger’s Cat scenario. I managed to push through to the credits, so the main campaign is traversable, but do not expect the polish of the Unbound sector. There is no Physical/Special split indicator, making combat calculations a headache for anyone used to modern engagement rules.
100% completion took me 85 hours. A significant portion of that was wandering aimlessly due to vague waypoints. The map design is intricate but lacks the signposting of a LVL 50 region.
FINAL ANALYSIS
Is a Living Dex possible? Technically, yes. Living Dex is possible without cheats. But it requires patience with the "Misti" dialogue and the occasional graphical artifact (Glitch City anomalies are present). It’s a relic of an older era of exploration—fascinating for historians, but a stress test for perfectionists.
