LOG START: REGION IRIDESCENT
Explorer: DexHunter Ace
Current Status: Caffeine-induced tremors
Pokedex Completion: 98.2% (Panic setting in)
I touched down in the Iridescent sector expecting another vanilla Kanto reskin. You know the type—same Pidgeys, same Viridian Forest maze. I was wrong. The cartography here has been scrambled. My standard-issue Town Map is useless. The geography has been rearranged, and local bio-diversity has spiked significantly. I spotted biological entities that shouldn't exist in this timeline—11 undocumented species (Fakemon) and a massive influx of Sinnoh-native fauna.
My scanner is overheating. I haven't slept in three days. There are corners of this map that didn't exist in the FireRed archives. I have to check every single trash can.
THE CENSUS (POKEDEX & AVAILABILITY)
Let’s cut to the chase. If I can't catch 'em all, I'm leaving. But the intel was good. Living Dex is possible without cheats. Do you hear that? That is the sound of pure, unadulterated dopamine hitting my synapses. No trade-locking. No event-exclusive walls.
I encountered over 60 species from the Gen IV catalog roaming the tall grass. The local ecosystem is aggressive but diverse. However, the inclusion of 11 "Fakemon" threw off my numbering system. I had to manually update my spreadsheet. They fit the art style well enough, but for a purist, it's a slight anomaly. Still, a slot is a slot, and I need that gold star on my Trainer Card.
FIELD NOTE: I found the evolution items. Link Cable item is available in Department Store. Huge W. No need to harass strangers for trade-backs. This is how civilization should function.
THE HUNTING GROUNDS (MAP & DIFFICULTY)
The threat level here is elevated. Standard Gym Leaders are utilizing advanced combat tactics—specifically, they’ve adapted to the Physical/Special split. My over-leveled Charizard couldn't just Flamethrower its way through everything; I actually had to look at Sp. Def stats. Disgusting, but respectful.
The map rearrangement is the real star here. It triggers my exploration instinct. I found myself backtracking constantly, convinced I missed a hidden grotto or a legendary encounter. Warning to fellow hunters: The level curve is steep. You cannot speed-run this. You will be flattened by a random Ace Trainer with perfect coverage moves.
ANOMALIES & QOL
The local tech is updated. TMs are reusable? Check. Infinite Repels? Not quite, but the encounter rate feels manageable. However, be vigilant. With map changes come navigation hazards. I got turned around near the mid-game sector more times than I care to admit.
MISSABLE ALERT: Missable event warning! Save before entering the cave. There are static encounters that do not respawn. If you crit that Legendary, it’s gone. I keep a backup save on a separate drive just in case.
FINAL LOG ENTRY
I’m clocking out. 100% completion took me 62 hours. It wasn't the longest expedition, but the density of catchable targets made it intense. Iridescent isn't just a shiny coat of paint; it's a complete structural renovation of Kanto. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to organize Box 14 by color gradient.
