LOG ID: 882-ROCKET-ALPHA
LOCATION: Team Rocket HQ, Beneath Celulean City
OPERATIVE: DexHunter Ace (LVL. 100)
LOG START: THE DARK SIDE HAS COOKIES (AND ARTIFACTS)
I don't usually sign up with the syndicates. Their uniforms are tacky, and they treat Pokémon like tools rather than entries in a database. But when the mission briefing promised a complete restructuring of the Kanto sector—five years post-Red, with a new objective involving "Ancient Artifacts"—I had to investigate. My Pokedex was itching for new data.
My neuro-link was vibrating. I wasn't collecting Badges this time. I was hunting eight specific Artifacts to summon a Legendary. That sounds like a Mythical encounter event to me. I packed my spreadsheets and dropped in.
THE LANDSCAPE: KANTO REIMAGINED
The cartography here is familiar but warped. It's Kanto, but the timeline has shifted. The visual landscape of this region is vibrant, unlike anything in the standard Kanto sector, thanks to a functional Day/Night cycle that actually affects the mood. Seeing Kanto at night while wearing a Rocket uniform hits different.
NOTE: The local economy is absolute chaos. You don't buy items; you gamble for them. I spent three hours at the tables just to stock up on Full Heals. It's a chaotic way to manage an inventory, but it adds to the lawless "Rocket" vibe.
THE MISSION: ARTIFACTS OVER BADGES
This is where my completionist anxiety spiked. Instead of the standard 8 Gym Leader checkpoints, we are tracking down artifacts. This changes the flow of exploration entirely. You aren't gated by strength; you're gated by exploration and puzzle-solving.
However, the intel on these artifacts is spotty. Missable event warning! Save before entering the cave. I nearly missed an artifact trigger because I walked past a specific NPC without talking to them. For a 100% completionist, this is terrifying. There are no safety rails here.
ANOMALIES DETECTED (THE BETA FACTOR)
Here is the issue, HQ. The dossier says "Completed," but the firmware reads "Beta 0.3." I felt this disconnect in the field. There are moments where the polish wears off, and you can see the code beneath the reality. The "Trick House" in the Cerulean Base is a neat feature—local technology borrowed from Hoenn—but the execution feels experimental.
I clocked my run. 100% completion took me 12 hours. That is... short. Suspiciously short. It feels like a prologue to a massive novel that hasn't been written yet. My Pokedex is barely filled. I have empty slots staring at me, mocking me.
FINAL ANALYSIS
Is a Living Dex is possible without cheats? In this environment? Unlikely. The distribution of species is too erratic, and with the game potentially being a "Beta" in disguise, the post-game habitat data is missing. I caught what I could, but I didn't get that dopamine hit of a "Certificate of Completion."
This is a region for tourists who want a darker story, not for serious archivists like myself. The narrative of playing as the villain is fresh, but the world feels like it's still rendering.
