MISSION LOG: REGION "HEROES"
Explorer: DexHunter Ace (LVL. 100)
Location: Unknown Coordinates (Ruby Base)
Mission Time: 12 Hours (Aborted early - see notes)
I dropped into the Pokemon Heroes region with my standard loadout: 999 Poke Balls, a spreadsheet for EV tracking, and enough caffeine to kill a Snorlax. My objective was clear: verify the "Completed" status of this sector and assess the local fauna for a potential Living Dex.
THE TERRAIN & VISUALS
First impressions? The visual landscape of this region is vibrant, unlike anything in the standard Hoenn sector. The architects (Charlesteam) have imported what appears to be Gen 4-style environmental data. The tilesets are crisp. Walking through the starting towns felt like an upgrade from the muddy textures of the past. Huge W. for the aesthetic overhaul. The Day/Night system is functional, adding a layer of temporal complexity to the hunt—some species only emerge when the sun drops. I appreciate the realism, even if it messes with my sleep schedule.
THE FAUNA (SINNOH ANOMALIES)
My Pokedex immediately flagged anomalies. Despite the region running on the Ruby engine (Gen 3 architecture), I encountered biological signatures from the Sinnoh region. Seeing Gen 4 mons in this environment is usually a good sign, but my obsessive need for categorization hit a wall.
FIELD NOTE: The local dialect is Spanish. My translator module was working overtime. If you aren't fluent in the regional tongue, you might miss critical hints about legendary locations.
THE COMPLETIONIST NIGHTMARE
Here is where the sweat starts. The mission briefing had conflicting intel—tags read "Completed," but the version stamp says "Beta 1." As a completionist, this is my horror movie. I played cautiously, constantly fearing the edge of the world.
Is a Living Dex is possible without cheats? The data is inconclusive. While the new map suggests a sprawling adventure, the "Beta" designation hangs over the experience like a Dark Void. I found the encounter rates to be erratic. I spent three hours in the first patch of grass trying to confirm the encounter table percentages, and the distribution felt... unpolished. I didn't find a Link Stone vendor early on, which usually signals that trade evolutions might be stuck in limbo. That's a red flag for the 100% run.
THREAT LEVEL & ANOMALIES
The new scripts are ambitious, but stability is a concern. I experienced minor glitches—what I call "reality tears"—where text boxes would hang or tiles would misalign. Missable event warning! Save before entering the cave to the north of the starting town; the scripting there felt fragile, and I wasn't about to lose a 4-hour save file to a soft lock.
FINAL LOG ENTRY
I cannot confirm if the post-game is massive or if the Battle Frontier is included because the structural integrity of the region (Beta status) made me hesitate to invest the full 80 hours. The region is beautiful, and the inclusion of Sinnoh mons is a delight, but for a hunter who needs that #493 certificate, it's too risky.
