LOG ENTRY: REGION GRUMP (SECTOR BETA-1.1)
TIMESTAMP: Day 1, 14:00
LOCATION: Unknown Starting Town
HEART RATE: 110 BPM (Elevated due to incomplete data)
I’ve dropped into the Grump region. Initial scans indicate this is a divergence from the standard FireRed timeline. The creator, entity 'Fuzzyketchup', seems to have prioritized linguistic humor over structural integrity. I’m here for the numbers, people. I’m here to fill the slots. But the air here tastes... stale. Like it hasn't been updated since April 2018.
THE LANDSCAPE: NEW TILES, OLD TECH
The visual data is acceptable. The local architecture (tilesets) has been renovated, distinguishing it from the drab Kanto prefabs. However, navigation is treacherous. I found myself walking into invisible barriers more often than wild encounters. It's disorienting. I tried to access my standard navigation tools, but the tech here is primitive.
NOTE: Do not expect the Best QoL: Infinite Repel system here. We are dealing with primitive tech. I had to manually re-apply sprays every 100 steps like a savage. My anxiety is through the roof.
THE POPULATION: "FUNNY" OR OBSTRUCTIVE?
The locals don't speak normally. Every interaction is a punchline or a sarcastic remark. While some Explorers might find this "charming," I find it inefficient. I asked an NPC for directions to the nearest tall grass, and got a monologue about the existential dread of being a sprite. Funny? Maybe. But does it get me a Pokedex entry? No.
THE CATCH REPORT (CRITICAL FAILURE)
Here is where the mission falls apart. This is a Beta 1.1 environment. The borders are closed. The Pokedex is a lie. I spent hours grinding in the early routes, sweating over capture rates, only to realize the roadmap ends abruptly.
- National Dex: Unobtainable.
- Trade Evolutions: No Link Stone detected.
- Stability: Volatile.
Missable event warning! Save before entering the cave to the north. I encountered a scripting anomaly that nearly corrupted my save file. The dialogue loop trapped me in purgatory until I performed a hard reset.
FINAL VERDICT
I cannot work under these conditions. My spreadsheet is mostly empty, not because of a lack of skill, but because the world simply stops existing. 100% completion took me 4 hours, and that includes the time I spent staring at a wall wondering if there was a hidden door. There wasn't.
This expedition is a cold case. Only visit if you are an archaeologist of abandoned ROM hacks. I'm packing up my gear and heading to a region that actually respects the grind.
