MISSION LOG: 2024-10-24 // REGION: GRENINJA Z // OPERATIVE: DEXHUNTER ACE
I’m shaking. I’m literally shaking. I just docked back at HQ and I need to upload this data before my nervous system collapses. I went into the Greninja Z region expecting a massive ecosystem overhaul—Gen 1 through 6 promised!—but my Pokedex counter... it stopped. It just stopped.
I need a coffee. Black. Double shot. Let’s break down the numbers.
THE CENSUS: 300 SPECIES?
Here is the situation on the ground. The intel promised species from Generations 1 through 6. Naturally, my brain started mapping out a 721-slot storage system. I had the boxes labeled. I had the color-coded sorting algorithm ready.
But the regional biodiversity is capped. Only 300 catchable Pokemon.
For a casual tourist, this is fine. For a Level 100 Explorer? It’s a neurological itch I can't scratch. You're telling me we have six generations of genetics to pull from, and we only picked 300? It feels like a "Best Of" compilation rather than a functional ecosystem. However, I can confirm that a Regional Living Dex is possible without cheats within that 300-limit constraint. I filled the slots, but the empty space where the other 400 should be is haunting me.
LOCAL TECHNOLOGY: THE MEGA PHENOMENON
Finally, some good news for the gear-heads. The local merchants in Lilycove have advanced their inventory significantly.
FIELD NOTE: Mega Stones are purchasable directly at the Lilycove Department Store. No obscure side-quests required.
This is a massive Quality of Life win. Usually, I have to scour every tile of a Victory Road for a Garchompite, but here, it's just capitalism. You pay, you evolve. It streamlines the power progression significantly.
THE HUNTING GROUNDS
The terrain is standard Hoenn topography (Emerald base), but the fauna is invasive. You'll find Gen 6 mons wandering around Route 101. It’s jarring but efficient for early-game team building. The star of the show, obviously, is the Greninja line. If you aren't using the titular mon, why are you even here?
However, I must issue a standard safety protocol for these modified regions:
WARNING: Missable event warning! Save before entering the cave entities or interacting with scripted legendaries. The stability of the timeline is... fragile.
THE VERDICT
100% completion took me 25 hours. That is suspiciously fast. This isn't a marathon; it's a sprint. The game is listed as "Completed," and technically, the credits roll. But without a full National Dex, the post-game feels hollow to a collector like me. The Battle Frontier is present (standard Emerald architecture), but with a limited roster, the meta is stale.
If you just want to blast through Hoenn with an Ash-Greninja and Mega Evolve a Charizard without jumping through hoops, this is a functional simulation. If you are looking to fill a National Living Dex... look elsewhere.
