LOG ENTRY: 10/31 - REGION: HALLOWEEN SECTOR
Current Pokedex: 003/???
Sanity Level: 64%
Caffeine Intake: Critical
Listen to me carefully. I don't care if the local fauna looks like a ghost, a ghoul, or an anime protagonist in a witch costume. If it has a hitbox and a stat block, I am catching it. I just touched down in the Girls Hunter Halloween zone, a divergent timeline of the FireRed sector. My initial scan suggests this is a "Moemon" class anomaly—where the pocket monsters are replaced by humanoid variants. My completionist itch doesn't discriminate. Data is data.
THE LANDSCAPE: A FRAGMENTED REALITY
The geography here is... unstable. The official cartography data claimed a complete overhaul, but my field observations indicate a localized distortion. The visual redesigns—spooky tilesets, pumpkin patches, the works—are heavy in the early zones but seem to destabilize around the Mt. Moon sector. It's like the terraforming engine ran out of juice.
The atmosphere is thick. The creator, fz15, has attempted to inject a specific "Halloween" aesthetic. It works, partially. But for a completionist? It's a nightmare of navigation. I spent forty minutes banging my head against a wall because the collision data didn't match the new sprite work.
THE CATCH: ANOMALOUS ENTITIES
Let's talk numbers. The entities here—these "Girls"—retain the fundamental EV/IV structures of their Kanto ancestors. However, there is a massive QoL feature I spotted immediately: Pokémon’s natures have a stimulus / drop of statistics separated by color.
Finally! I don't need to consult my laminated chart every time I catch a 'Mon. Red text for boosted stats, blue for hindered (or vice versa, depending on the localized ROM coding). This speeds up the culling process significantly when hunting for that perfect Nature. For a min-maxer like me, this is delicious.
TEMPORAL MECHANICS & MISSABLES
Here is where I started sweating. The intel mentioned Time Travel. Apparently, thanks to a "friend" (NPC), we can jump through space-time to encounter older species. My immediate thought: Missables.
WARNING: Temporal mechanics are the bane of a Living Dex. If you jump to the past and forget to catch a specific unevolved form, can you go back? I tested this rigorously. It seems stable, but my paranoia is at an all-time high. Missable event warning! Save before entering the cave or engaging the Time Travel NPC. I am not losing a slot #054 to a bad save state.
THE VERDICT: A SHORT HUNT
This isn't a 100-hour opus like Unbound. It feels like a seasonal event. The "New Gym Leaders" offer some fresh tactical data, but the difficulty curve is erratic. I swept the first two gyms with barely any grinding, which makes me suspicious of the late game.
Is the National Dex here? Unclear. The game claims to be "Completed," but the sheer amount of "Vanilla FireRed" bleeding through the cracks suggests otherwise. I didn't find a Battle Frontier, which is a major deduction for post-game longevity. However, for a quick, thematic dopamine hit?
100% completion took me 12 hours. It's a snack, not a meal. But a filled Dex slot is a filled Dex slot.
