MISSION REPORT: POKEMON GALAXY ELEMENTS

Explorer: DexHunter Ace (LVL. 100)
Region Codename: Galaxy Elements
Base Sector: Ruby Infrastructure
Build Version: Alpha 0.5
Status: UNKNOWN — and that right there should tell you everything about how this expedition went.

INITIAL DEPLOYMENT — 00:00:00

Okay. Okay okay okay. Let me get my thoughts straight because this one had me swinging between euphoria and absolute agony. The mission briefing promised a LOT: Fakemon, multi-region travel, catchable all Pokemon, new moves, tough gyms, a Pokemon League Tournament. My hands were literally shaking when I loaded this up. "Catchable All Pokemon"? Those three words are my entire reason for existing. I opened my spreadsheet, cracked my knuckles, and dove in.

I lasted about 12 hours before reality hit me like a critical-hit Hyper Beam to the face.

THE LANDSCAPE

[Timestamp: Hour 01 — Starting Town]

First impressions: the region has personality. New tiles everywhere, the overworld sprites are custom, and those semi-transparent textboxes and mugshots? Genuinely nice local technology. Feels like the developers built this place with their own hands rather than copy-pasting from the Ruby blueprint. The explorable world map is a neat feature — you can actually see the region laid out and pick your path, which gave me that dopamine hit of "oh, there are PLACES to go."

The visual landscape is ambitious. You can see the seams where custom tilesets meet vanilla Ruby architecture, but honestly, for an Alpha 0.5 build from a smaller creator, the effort is visible and I respect the craft. Travel to Kanto and Unova sectors is advertised, and I did reach fragments of both. Fragments. More on that in the anomaly section.

THE DEX — THE ONLY THING THAT MATTERS

[Timestamp: Hour 03 — Route 2, already obsessing]

Here's where my brain started doing that thing where it locks onto a problem and won't let go. The feature list says "Catchable All Pokemon" and "More Pokemon from Latest Generations" plus "New Fakemon." So I pulled up my tracker and started cataloging.

The regional Dex includes entries from later generations mixed in with the Hoenn base — I'm talking Lucario showing up on early routes, Zoroark variants in the wild, that kind of thing. The Fakemon designs range from genuinely creative to "I think someone drew this at 3 AM" but they exist and they have Dex entries, which means they need to be CAUGHT.

MISSABLE EVENT WARNING! Save before entering the cave systems in the mid-game. I encountered a one-time Fakemon legendary encounter with no second chance. No respawn. No post-game rematch. If you knock it out, it's GONE. My completion percentage will haunt me.

The problem — and this is a BIG problem for someone like me — is that "Catchable All Pokemon" appears to be aspirational rather than implemented. Several Dex entries reference creatures I simply could not find ANYWHERE in the accessible areas. Routes that seem like they should connect to encounter zones just... end. Kanto and Unova are partially built; I hit invisible walls and empty maps in both. I got my completion to roughly 47.3% before I hit a hard ceiling where there was literally nowhere left to go and no more wild encounters to discover.

47.3%. Do you know what that number does to me? It's like someone showing you half a puzzle and then setting the other half on fire.

QUALITY OF LIFE ASSESSMENT

Let me break down the QoL features — or lack thereof — because this is where expeditions live or die for completionists:

  • Trade Evolutions: I could NOT confirm a Link Cable item available in any Department Store or shop. Trade evolutions appear to still require the traditional method, which in a ROM hack with no link functionality means those Dex slots stay empty. This is a critical failure for Living Dex viability. No Link Cable item. No alternative evolution method that I found. Massive L.
  • TM List: The new TM list is actually decent. Some modern moves mapped onto the old TM system. But several TMs reference moves that don't seem to have proper animations — they play but the screen just flashes white. Functional, not polished.
  • Repels: Standard Ruby repel system. No infinite repel toggle, no "use another?" prompt. You're burning through Repels manually like it's 2003.
  • Shiny Hunting: Base Ruby shiny odds with no enhanced methods that I could detect. No DexNav, no chain fishing, no Shiny Charm equivalent. If you want to shiny hunt here, you're doing full-odds overworld encounters and praying. I respect the grind but the infrastructure just isn't there.
  • Save System: Standard. No quick-save. No auto-save. Save often and save manually because I hit two hard crashes (more in Anomalies).

THREAT LEVEL

[Timestamp: Hour 06 — Third Gym]

The briefing mentioned "Tough Gyms" and they weren't lying. Hostile entities in Gym Leader encounters are running competitive-adjacent sets with solid coverage moves and held items. The third Gym Leader nearly swept my entire team with a single Fakemon I'd never seen before — no Dex data, no type chart reference, just vibes and violence. I lost three times before I figured out its typing through trial and error.

Optional trainer battles are scattered throughout routes, which is a nice touch — you can choose your engagements. But the level curve is erratic. I went from fighting Level 25s to a wild Level 38 encounter in the span of one route transition. No warning. No scaling. Just "surprise, you're dead."

The Pokemon League Tournament is an interesting regional phenomenon — it's structured differently from a standard Elite Four gauntlet. Multiple rounds, bracket-style. But I'm uncertain if the full tournament is implemented because I hit an anomaly after Round 2 that softlocked my progress.

ANOMALY LOG

This is the part that hurts. Alpha 0.5 means Alpha 0.5, and the anomalies reflect that:

  • Softlock #1: Pokemon League Tournament, Round 3. After defeating the second bracket opponent, the screen faded to black and never came back. Had to hard reset. Lost 45 minutes of progress because I hadn't saved mid-tournament.
  • Softlock #2: Kanto sector, attempting to enter a building in what appeared to be Saffron City. Walked through the door into a void map. No exit. No escape rope functionality.
  • Visual Glitch: Several Fakemon sprites display corrupted palettes in battle. They look like they're having an existential crisis. Functional but unsettling.
  • Script Error: An NPC in the second town delivers the same dialogue as the Pokemart clerk. They tell you about Great Balls while standing in the middle of a park. It's surreal.
  • Missing Encounters: Multiple route encounter tables seem incomplete. Some patches of tall grass yield NO encounters at all — just empty rustling. My encounter tracker shows 0/0 for at least four accessible routes.
NOTE: If you're entering this region, bring patience and save CONSTANTLY. The anomaly density is high enough that you WILL lose progress if you get comfortable.

POST-GAME ASSESSMENT

There... isn't one. Not really. The Kanto and Unova travel features are partially built shells. The Pokemon League Tournament may or may not complete depending on your luck with softlocks. There's no Battle Frontier. There's no post-game legendary quest chain. There's no endgame Dex completion mechanism because the Dex itself isn't fully populated with obtainable entries.

Living Dex is NOT possible without cheats — and honestly, it's not possible WITH cheats either, because some entries reference Fakemon that don't appear to have complete data in the ROM.

My total expedition time clocked in at 14.7 hours before I hit the wall. And I mean THE wall. The point where there is physically nothing left to do, catch, or explore in the current build. For context, 100% completion took me 85 hours in Unbound. Here, 47.3% took me 14.7 hours, and that remaining 52.7% simply doesn't exist yet.

FIELD ASSESSMENT — FINAL NOTES

Look. I can see what kebbles is trying to build here. The ambition is real. Multi-region travel, a custom Fakemon roster, tournament-style League, optional trainer battles, a reimagined TM system — on paper, this is exactly the kind of expedition that makes my Dex-hunting heart race. The foundation has creative energy running through it.

But Alpha 0.5 is Alpha 0.5. The region is half-built. The Dex is half-populated. The post-game is a blueprint, not a building. The anomalies are frequent enough to be genuinely disruptive. And for a completionist — for someone who NEEDS that 100% — this is currently an exercise in beautiful frustration.

I'm filing this one under "revisit when updated." If kebbles fills out those empty routes, patches the softlocks, implements a Link Cable item or alternative trade evolution method, and finishes the Kanto/Unova sectors? This could climb. The bones are interesting. But right now, I'm staring at a half-empty Dex and my eye is twitching.

47.3%. Forty-seven point three.

I need to go lie down.
