MISSION LOG: REGMA REGION INCIDENT
Location: Regma Region, 4 Years Post-Emerald Event
Operative: DexHunter Ace (LVL. 100)
Current Status: Twitching. Pokedex at 92%. Need coffee.
I touched down in Regma expecting a standard Hoenn reskin. Negative. This is a completely new landmass. 16 towns. My logistical spreadsheet is already weeping. The intel promised a narrative sequel to the Hoenn crisis—Team Magma and Aqua are gone, but the power vacuum they left behind? It’s messy. The vibe here is... unstable. I'm seeing visual anomalies—some local fauna look crisp, others look like they’re phasing in from a 2004 timeline (Intel confirms "New sprites soon"). But I don't care about pretty pictures. I care about the data slots.
THE CATCHABILITY INDEX
Here is the situation: The local fauna is a "Selected" mix from Generations 1 through 6. This triggers my fight-or-flight response. "Selected" usually means "Cuts". However, the biodiversity in the early routes is promising. I’ve logged species from Kalos living next to Kanto natives. It’s a biological melting pot.
FIELD NOTE: I spent 4 hours in the tall grass on Route 3. Living Dex is possible without cheats within the confines of the Regional Dex, but you have to be meticulous. Don't skip the headbutt trees.
Trade evolutions seem to be handled via local technology. I found a vendor selling evolution stones that shouldn't exist in this latitude. Link Cable item is available in Department Store. Huge W. My Alakazam is finally viable without needing to file paperwork for a dimension transfer.
TRAVERSAL & QOL
Standard Surf protocols have been overridden. We have controllable boats now. Actual vessels. No more sitting on a Lapras's back getting wet. It changes the pacing of water routes entirely—feels less like a slog and more like a tactical naval operation. Also, the local Tech Merchants have finally figured out digital rights management: Reusable TMs are standard issue here. I taught Earthquake to three different heavy hitters. It brought a tear to my eye.
However, the region feels... volatile. While the layout is massive, I encountered friction in the event flags. Missable event warning! Save before entering the cave north of the 6th Gym. I almost locked myself out of a legendary encounter because I walked through the wrong tile. That’s a stress level I didn't need.
THE VERDICT
The Regma region is dense. 100% completion took me 85 hours, and that was with optimal pathing. The physical/special split makes combat fair, preventing the old "Fire Punch Hitmonchan" tragedy. It’s a solid expedition, but the visual glitches and "Beta 3" designation on my passport stamp suggest the reality here is still rendering. Come for the new map, stay for the completionist grind.
