MISSION LOG: REGIONAL ANOMALY DETECTED
Explorer: DexHunter Ace (LVL. 100)
Location: Kanto Sector / Orange Archipelago
Pokedex Status: 249/251 (Panic inducing)
System Date: Post-Expedition Debrief
THE OBJECTIVE: A CLEAN 251
I arrived in this region expecting a standard Kanto run, but the parameters have been altered. The local professor has restricted the biological database to 251 entries. Do you know what that means? It means closure. It means I don't have to worry about a random Zigzagoon cluttering my storage system. However, the anxiety kicked in immediately: Are they all here? Can I physically obtain a Mew without glitching under a truck?
Living Dex is possible without cheats. At least, that's the theory. The ecosystem has been condensed. Johto specimens are migrating into Kanto zones earlier than usual. This is optimal for early-game diversity, but it messes with my spreadsheet tracking.
THE TERRAIN: ORANGE ISLANDS EXPANSION
The standard Sevii Islands have been wiped from the map. In their place? The Orange Archipelago. This isn't just a map swap; it's a completely different biome. The navigation requires manual inputs we haven't seen since the anime logs. New Gym Leaders, new badges. The Crystal Onix? It exists here as a regional anomaly.
FIELD NOTE: The transition to the Orange Islands is jarring. Ensure your team is prepped for non-standard battle protocols. The Gym Leaders here don't play by League rules.
THREAT LEVEL: ROCKET EXPERIMENTS
Team Rocket is operating with modified tech. They aren't just throwing Rattatas at you anymore. Intelligence reports "Superpowered Evil Rocket Pokemon." In the field, this translates to stat-boosted monstrosities that hit like a truck. I nearly wiped to a modified Raticate. It’s embarrassing, but it’s the truth.
Missable event warning! Save before entering the cave. There are encounters with these modified specimens that feel singular. If you faint them, I am not confident they respawn. My completionist heart can't take that risk. I saved 40 times. You should too.
THE ANOMALY: VERSION 0.60
Here is where I start sweating. The mission file says "v0.60", yet the Archives tag it as "Completed." This cognitive dissonance is painful. Playing through, the world feels largely contiguous, but there are rough edges in the code matrix. Some tiles don't crunch right under my boots. Some text boxes overflow. It triggers my OCD, but the allure of the Orange League kept me moving forward.
LOGISTICS AND CATCHABILITY
I spent hours scouring the grass. The encounter rates feel tweaked. 100% completion took me 85 hours. A significant portion of that was navigating the new island layouts which don't match standard GPS data. The puzzles are refreshing but disorienting.
Is it the perfect 100% run? No. The "v0.60" stamp haunts me. I constantly fear I'm missing a trigger that wasn't coded in yet. But for a chance to run the Orange Islands with a Gen 3 engine? It's a necessary risk.
