THE CHAOS PROTOCOL
Log Entry: Day 1, 0800 Hours. Location: Pallet Town.
I checked my pulse. 120 BPM. Normal for a mission start. The objective was simple: Infiltrate the Kanto region, secure a 100% Living Dex, and exfiltrate. But the intel was wrong. This isn't Kanto. This is a casino built on a graveyard of probability.
My starter Pokemon didn't Tackle. It waggled its finger. Metronome. Then it summoned Judgement. At level 5. I knew right then this wasn't going to be a standard cataloging mission. This is a stress test for my sanity.
MECHANICAL ANOMALIES
The local physics are completely broken. Headquarters briefed me on the Metronome modification—40 Power Points (PP) per slot. That's 40 pulls of the slot machine before you struggle. But here is the kicker: All hostile engagements are Double Battles.
Do you know what that means for a completionist? It means while I am trying to carefully whittle down a wild Mankey's HP to the red zone, my partner Pokemon might decide to use Explosion or Surf via Metronome and wipe the board. I have never sweated so much trying to catch a Rattata.
FIELD NOTE: Control is an illusion here. You do not choose the attack. You pray to the RNG gods. If you are Nuzlocking this, you are a masochist.
CATCHABILITY & LOGISTICS
I strictly audit every region for Dex availability. The good news: Living Dex is possible without cheats. The local gene-splicing technology has removed Trade Evolutions entirely. Alakazam and Gengar are attainable through leveling, which is a mercy given the circumstances.
However, the lack of Technical Machines (TMs) is a severe logistical hurdle. You cannot teach False Swipe. You cannot teach Sleep Powder. You are at the mercy of the finger wag. This makes legendary encounters terrifying. Missable event warning! Save before entering the cave. I walked into Mewtwo's lair, and on turn one, my Clefable rolled Roar. Mewtwo fled. I stared at the screen for forty minutes in silence. That is slot #150 empty. Unacceptable.
QUALITY OF LIFE (OR LACK THEREOF)
There is one shining beacon of hope in this RNG hellscape: Every party member learns all HMs. This is a massive logistical win. No need for a designated HM slave to occupy a precious slot in your party of six. Your Charizard can Cut, your Blastoise can Fly (don't ask about the physics), and you retain full combat capability—or at least, as much capability as Metronome allows.
The visuals are standard FireRed issue, but the pacing is erratic. Double battles drain resources, but since you don't need to buy TMs, your funds can go strictly to PokeBalls and Potions. You will need them.
MISSION DEBRIEF
This expedition was not a test of skill; it was a test of probability management. I spent days just trying to get the right roll to catch a roaming dog. 100% completion took me 85 hours. 60 of those hours were just resetting my save file because my own team murdered the target Pokemon.
If you have an obsessive need for control, stay away. If you want to see a Weedle use Hyper Beam, step right in.
