LOG ENTRY: 001 - THE MERGER ANOMALY
I am shaking. Physically shaking. My Pokedex is sitting at a pathetic 8% completion, and there is nothing I can do about it. I was deployed to the FireRed 2 sector under the impression that I could conduct a full sweep of the newly merged Kanto-Johto super-region. The intel was promising: a timeline five years post-Red, a bureaucratic consolidation of Gyms, and a massive ecological shift.
But then I hit the wall. The invisible, code-written wall. 100% completion took me 3 hours. Three. Hours. The expedition is capped at the second Gym. For a completionist, this is not a game; it is a prison. I can see the empty slots in the database, #001 through #386, mocking me from beyond the game's termination point.
THE GEOPOLITICAL LANDSCAPE
Despite the brevity of the mission, the world-building anomalies are fascinating. The local government has initiated a consolidation protocol, merging the Kanto and Johto leagues. They've culled the Gym count to eight total. Viridian, Pewter, and others? Gone. The Viridian Forest ecosystem has been decimated—converted into an industrial mining zone by the citizens of Pewter. It’s a tragic loss for Bug-type habitats, but a fascinating evolution of the map.
The narrative suggests that Johto species have migrated into Kanto territories due to these shifts. I encountered Sentret and Hoothoot in early routes where Rattata usually reign supreme. The biodiversity is refreshed, which is a massive W for early-game variety, even if I can't catch them all yet.
MECHANICAL UPGRADES & QOL
Technologically, this region is running on updated firmware. I confirmed the presence of the Physical/Special Split, making combat logic consistent with modern standards. The Fairy-type attribute has been patched into the local fauna, altering match-up charts significantly.
Best QoL: Infinite Repel system. Or at least, the BW2-style prompt system is active. When a Repel fades, the interface asks if you want to deploy another. This is critical for maintaining sanity while hunting for rare spawns without being swarmed by Zubats. I also noted that Pokemarts have been integrated directly into Pokemon Centers—efficiency is up, travel time is down.
THE VERDICT: INCOMPLETE DATA
The modified map and the story concept—Gym Leaders losing jobs and migrating—are incredibly compelling hooks. However, as an Explorer who needs that 100% stamp, I cannot in good conscience recommend deployment yet. Missable event warning! Save before entering the cave... and then realize the cave might not even be finished. The current build ends abruptly after the second badge. There is no post-game because there is barely a pre-game.
FIELD NOTE: The difficulty seems standard, but without the full roster of Gyms, the threat level curve is impossible to project.
I am aborting the mission and returning to base until the developer releases a patch that extends the borders. My neurological need for completion cannot handle a world that ends at Cerulean City.
